🐩 🐩 Two out of three of these Yorkies have medial patella luxation (MPL), a condition where the patella moves out of its normal position in the groove at then end of the femur (long bone of the hindlimb) and skips toward the medial (middle) aspect of the hindlimb. 🐩 🐩 With this condition, your pet may skip or limp frequently. Pending on the grade of your dog’s MPL, (I being best, IV worst) treatments range from anti-inflammatory pain medications to surgical correction. If you notice acute limping and skipping from the hind limbs, get your baby assessed for medial patella luxation! Is it just us, or are other colleagues seeing a higher frequency of severity with Yorkies!? #305

🏖️🏖️”Ernie” presented with sand impaction, a syndrome seen after dogs enjoy a sand-eating beach day 🏖️ 🏖️ . This was diagnosed with an X-ray after Ernie’s symptoms of constipation, vomiting and abdominal tensing were seen. Be mindful when taking your dogs to the beach, sand impaction is more common than you think!
