These dahlias are just too good and deserve to have a spot on the feed. They’re cranking up so I’m excited! It’s my favorite to walk through the garden and look at the plants each evening. ☁️

Grasshoppers, lubbers, and leaf footed bugs also love dahlias (peep one hiding in one the purple dahlias) and they especially love to eat anything white 🫠

Which one is your favorite?

✨ Popping up! ✨ We’re kicking off our season with flowers at Bold Bean on Saturday, May 11th at 9am. So come out to grab some organically grown flowers and local coffee for your mom, wife, partner, and/or yourself! We will also bring a very small number of Honey Dijon rose bushes. Look out for more rose bush offerings soon!

~ Florists: The dahlias are picking up speed and I anticipate having them again in mid to late May! 🌸

It’s the time of year to see our native rhododendrons and fringe trees in bloom. I encourage you to take walks through state parks and forests to see everything in bloom while the weather is so pleasant!

On the flower front, we’ve had to make some pivots but we’re still trucking along. The dahlias are looking good and we should have flowers in May if all continues to go to plan!

As many of you know, my husband and I recently began a new season of life — parenthood. Learning last fall that we were pregnant was a pleasant surprise as we had just started up Poppycock a couple of months before. Throughout the pregnancy I thought that I would continue to grow as I normally would after giving birth, just more on a time crunch (boyyyyy was I being optimistic 😅).

Over the past few weeks I’ve been grappling with how I want to go forward with our little growing operation and I’ve come to the conclusion that I want to spend my free time watching our daughter grow rather than planting annuals. So what does that mean? For now, that means that we will only be selling dahlias for the foreseeable future however, this fall is still up in the air — our baby is growing before our eyes and I’m not sure that I can dedicate time to harvesting and maintenance this fall while she’s so dependent on me. Once we get to that point when the dahlias are blooming again, I’ll post an update if we have dahlias available.

Grower friends - I have lots of cool season flower seeds that need new homes. Please reach out to me if you haven’t placed your fall seed order yet!

I can’t believe that it’s already June! It feels like this year is flying by. We’re enjoying the front garden that is full of color right now with big Zinnia, Sunflower, and other blooms — the hummingbirds and insects are enjoying them too 🐝

It won’t be long until we will have to mow everything down for the summer so that we can cover crop and let the soil rest before our next big planting! 🌱

Dahlias are on the way and their timing is in line with our baby’s due date ~3 weeks so I’m so excited for June!

I just also want to note that we plan to offer fall blooms and I’ve already submitted an order for our spring flowers since they will have to be started in September!

Ranunculus to match yesterday evening’s sky 🌅

It’s the last week for our Ranunculus until next year! We will be mowing them down at the end of the week so get these while you can! These are cool-season flowers and with the temperatures climbing, they are becoming especially stressed and less productive.

Because of the climbing temperatures, this weekend we switched gears and began planting warm-season annuals! I want to thank my sister for her help planting and for these pretty little pictures! As always, I’m thankful for my husband’s help as well - the growing baby belly makes it a bit awkward to get up and down sometimes so their help is appreciated because I’m extra slow at planting right now 😅

Make sure to get some Ranunculus from us this week if you haven’t already! We will have a pickup this upcoming weekend in Riverside!

Apart from evergreens, the Ranunculus are pretty much the only plants in view that have any color at the moment, which makes the blooms that much more cheerful ✨

This is my first bucket full of flowers this season and I couldn’t be more excited 🤩 It takes a lot of patience from the time you order from a wholesaler (almost a year in advance), to prep work, planting, then waiting for blooms 🥲

Btw, we do have some flowers available if you would like some!

I’m hoping that everyone had a safe and relaxing New Year!

The Ranunculus are beginning to push up more stems and color up. Ourgoal was to potentially offer them the beginning of February to florists, but there’s a possibility that if enough are ready, we could have some availability at the end of the month or sooner! ✨

We will mostly have beautiful white, cream, pink, cheery yellow, and clementine-colored Ranunculus, along with a handful of other colors that we’re trying. Once we’re about a week out from offering flowers again, we will begin sending our availability list and posting in stories ☁️

Pictured are a few white and yellow Ranunculus that made it through 19 degree Fahrenheit weather over the Christmas holiday! 🫶🏻

Excited to post this to let you know what we will be growing for the upcoming months! The dahlias are really starting to pump out flowers but because of the late start this year, we lost a lot due to excessive rainfall recently so availability is limited.

In spring 2023 we should have a ton of beautiful ranunculus and some other flowers as well — we will only be selling to florists at this time since our schedules are extremely limited (we both have day jobs and what seems like a million animals to care for 😅) but we hope to be able to offer some retail bouquets in the future.

Slide into our DMs for availability or with your info so we can send an availability list to you!

P.S. pictured is one of our dahlias! 💐

The Koko Loko rose 😍

Yes, that’s her name 😅 She’s a beautiful rose whose color starts as an antique lavender and changes a darker lavender as the bloom becomes older.

This is a first-year rose that isn’t mature so we can’t wait to share this gal with you all when it’s time! ✨

The Earth Angel rose ✨

Honestly, I didn’t care for roses before adding them to the garden. Most of the ones that are sold wholesale and in grocery stores are imported and look so STIFF and artificial to me. Needless to say the imported roses are coated in an abundance of chemicals to preserve them for their long journey here and to extend their shelf life. Due to the chemicals used to preserve them, we shouldn’t even be touching them!

After adding roses to the garden, I quickly became addicted and could truly see their elegance and beauty — and no chemicals are added! To control pests, we release beneficial insects as a preventative measure. To control disease, we remove the leaves or part of the affected area and try to only plant varieties that are less susceptible to diseases.

The rose pictured is new to me and in its first year here and is already putting out beautiful flowers! This isn’t even a perfect bloom! I can’t imagine how she will look once she matures! 🤩
