A CASE OF THE ZOOMIES
Why do some dogs seemingly out of the blue, suddenly start racing around like they’ve gone completely mad! Some dogs do and some dogs don’t, but it’s a normal canine behaviour that usually serves a purpose. The most common cause of the zoomies is when dogs are feeling happy, really excited or need to release pent up energy. A dog that has frequent zoomies may be a sign that your dog needs more mental or physical stimulation.
Zoomies are harmless as long as your dog is racing around in a safe space and there aren’t small children, older people or ornaments, furniture etc. that could be knocked over. It can be really entertaining and funny to watch.
I have 4 dogs, 2 of which have never had the zoomies. The other 2 will zoom around after having a bath or when a special person arrives that they have an attachment to. Does your dog get a case of the zoomies and what seems to trigger it?
