Are you purchasing kittens from East European countries (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine etc.) and Asia (with exception of Japan)
without any personal touch with your breeder, not flying to the country of purchase just letting your animal come to you via shipping or courier?🤷

Watch for WAARDENBURG SYNDROME on cats. The risk is huge and the community of breeders haven't provided us so far with any relevant informations, DNA testing or studies. 😢😢😢

SYMPTOMS: wide-set eyes, heterochromia or pale blue eyes, white forelock/unusual hair pigmentation, white patches on the hair and skin, broad nasal bridge, incomplete nostril development, premature greying, deafness caused by problems of the inner ear, hole in the iris (coloboma), small eyes (microphthalmia), hardened bones (osteopetrosis), macrocephaly, albinism and deafness etc. etc.

The Finnish SK Suomen Kiissalitto (FIFe Finland) uses this for their obligatory HCM ULTRASOUND - to register your maine c**n breeding cat you must follow:

1st: HCM scan before breeding
2nd: HCM scan before 1 years' age is valid for 1 year
3rd: HCM scan between 1 and 5 years' age is valid for 2 years
4th: HCM scan done after 5th year of age is valid for the rest of
the cat's breeding life.

FIRST DOCUMENTED MAINE C**N was ... black and white male CAPTAIN JENKS of the HORSE MARINES🥳

The Maine C**n is no stranger to the show bench, in fact Maine C**ns were being shown at local agricultural fairs in New England, USA, in the 1860’s, some thirty years before the first official American cat shows were held.

In those days, there was no Standard of Points and it is unclear how judges decided which cat was the best exhibit.
The first documented Maine C**n was a black and white with the imposing name of Captain Jenks of the Horse Marines, belonging to Mrs. F.R. Pierce and her younger brother, dating around 1861.
