The bunny might bring the basket, but he has to get the rainbow eggs from the true stars of the show... the chickens. 🐣
I’d like to introduce you to some of the newest members of the Fallen Tree Acres rainbow flock. These little floofs are 5 of the 8 most recent hatched from my own flock. From left to right, a splash Marans, a Lavender Marans, two F3 Olive Eggers, and a Black Copper Marans. While these 5 represent the darker end of the egg rainbow with their chocolate and Olive eggs, they are crucial in expanding the rainbow.

PS... do you know how hard it is to get 5 chicks to stand in a row and be still?!

🌱Easter Egger Frizzles - Cute, Colorful, Great Layers with Good Temperaments -

The large fowl frizzles come in many colors, and they lay large eggs! I love adding variety to the flock - gorgeous birds paired with rainbow eggs. If hatching, there’s a 50/50 chance of frizzles, the others will be smooth and it takes 4-7 days to know which they will be.

The first couple photos are pullets, and the others are Mercury, as he is now, and as he was growing out in 2020. Mercury is the first splash frizzle Roo - who is happily with a colorful variety of hens - the only frizzle in that group.

We don’t breed frizzle to frizzle, which would create frazzles with brittle feathers that break easily.

We have multiple groups of frizzles. They have the cute factor, and are very productive.

Impatiently waiting for dinner 🍔
We have a system here at 5 Arrows Farm. Pigs get to eat first and the chickens get fed after. The pigs eat inside the closed barn while the chickens squawk and make a fuss outside. When I am ready to feed the birds, all 200 of them (there are only like 40, but sometimes it feels like 200) follow me to their feeding area and I stumble over them because they walk under my feet. They eat their dinner, drink some water and put themselves to bed. It’s the same thing every single night 👀

Duckie & her babies 🐣
This dedicated hen sat on five Rhode Island Red eggs for 21 days. One of the eggs never developed, but she hatched four beautiful little chicks. For the first 18 days, the broody hen will get up once a day. During this time, she p**ps, eats, drinks, and usually takes a dust bath. From day 18-21, the broody hen puts the eggs on “lockdown.” She doesn’t eat, drink or p**p for three days until the chicks hatch. Broody hens are amazing!! 👏🏼

Believe it or not, Lucy is my first Rhode Island Red. I’m fairly certain she is laying now but I’m not 100%. Either way, I’m glad to have finally added a RIR into my flock. Who else has a RIR? 🤔😊🐓

Trent is a senior rooster at least 7½ to 8 years old. He is the last surviving brother of the trio, Terence, Trent, and Darby.

They were found tied in a feed bag in the back of a pickup truck and luckily found in the knick of time when pulled over by a police officer.

He lives with the senior ladies and is such a distinguished gentleman. We are honored to let him live out his full life that so many of his kind never do.

Tonight as I went to put the Silkies to bed, PomPom’s chicks were in the run chirping to be put in the coop. However, PomPom and John (one of the chicks) were not there! Instead, when I opened to coop door, there they both were snuggled down for bed looking quite pleased with themselves...🤭 John knows how to use the ramp whereas the other 8 chicks don’t. He uses this to his advantage to get the best, most cosy spot under PomPom each night! 🤍
