I honestly think having quail will keep me young. There’s always something to do in preparation.

Today we learned that the door to our brooder should be on top as baby quail are fast. So we brought it out side, removed the wire and cut it in half. We’ll be able to use the same door also.

We’re starting to build our quail coop. The legs will be cedar posts, the base will be 2x4’s and the rest 2x2’s. Once we assemble the pieces I’ll post pics.

FREEZING EGGS

When you find a sale on eggs, you can freeze them to store for baking and cooking later.
Eggs can not be frozen in the shell... but can be out of the shell.
Crack a single egg into each slot in an ice cube tray. Freeze, then pop out and put back into the freezer in a zip lock bag freeing up your ice cube trays for other purposes.
Thaw at room temperature when ready to use.
Great for dishes that calls for eggs or even scrambled eggs.
