Sunset TRC permanently closed May 2016. We are not a part of Savannah Station TRP. We apologize if we caused confusion that the two TR programs merged, we have not. Many of our volunteers have started volunteering with Savannah Station since it's the closest to them. We recommend you go PATH Int'l to find other centers.

Almost one week till the the Gallop of Hope Gala for Savannah Station TRP. We have more tickets ready for you. Friday April 7 th 6:00-10:00 at 10 West Main St. Yukon. Tickets are $30.00 for a steak medallion dinner, live & silence auction items, cash bar, live music, and it benefit the kid in YOUR community. Call Mindy or Glenda for tickets or message us and I'll get back with you.

Since Sunset TRC permanent closing May 2016, many of us have started volunteering at Savannah Station in El Reno. They will be having volunteer training the 2nd Saturday of every month. Come on out and see the beautiful facility.
There will be a work day of building, painting, cleaning March 4th. Starting at 7:00 am. We need all hand on desk to get some important project finished before the grand opening March 25, 2:00-4:00 with some important guests. We're also collecting auction items for the Gala fundraiser April 7th.

Hadley was one of our most brave riders. Her family was able to go to another state where she wanted her ashes spread. This memorial was created for this brave cowgirl. We grieve with you Tara and family. Hadley and your family have changed all our lives for the better and we will never be forgotten. ❤️🙏🐴

We had a great day at Savannah Station TRC getting to know some of the new herd. It was great to see old friends and meet new friends. The children of Canadian County NEED our services. We want to congratulate Mindy Hole on her new position with Savannah Station TRC in El Reno. She will be their program coordinator/ instructor. The board and program is being revamped. We have appreciated the support of the Sunset family and community since our closure in May. The horses are at their home or rehoused at other TRC's and they are doing well. We miss our kids and it's hard to think we will not see them next semester. Prayers for our kids and hoping they find other resources. PATH Int'l. Org is a good resource to find other certified centers.

We wanted to update you all on the horses. The horses have made it to their homes or to their new jobs. They are doing very well and settling in. Our horses were leased not owned by Sunset TRC. We will update picks as we receive them from owners. 😀🐴

Sunset Wednesday Night Class Finale!
A Treasure Hunt with some Island Games at the Sunset "Burris Beach" TRC!
Treasure Map included! Jewels, coins, beads, gold... hidden in the sand buckets, sharks chasing, each Sunset rider had a Sunset 'Island' named after them! We had some Island Games of riding blindfolded, carrying water, carrying an egg on a spoon, sit-a-buck$ while wearing some fins through an obstacle course and more.
We are so very proud of our riders! You have achieved so much and we love you very much!
Thank you to Mindy Hole for being an awesome instructor. Thank you to Nancy Hinkle for thinking up this great idea and all your hard work in making the Treasure hunt a blast. Thank you to the riders, parents, grandparents, staff, volunteers, board, our gracious Host Mr. Stanley Burris, the horses, and absolutely everyone who made our year GREAT!

What a bittersweet morning...Jener rode his horse for the last time at Sunset. We are so sad to see them close. Dr. Miller wanted Jener on a horse as soon as he could sit up. He was 9 months and Sunset was the only place that would take him that young. I have no doubt that a lot of how fast he's progressed, in everything, was a result of him riding from such a young age. We made some wonderful memories and hit huge milestones at Sunset and we are forever grateful for our experience there. I can not thank the owner and all the volunteers enough! God bless these people who donate their time to love, care for and ensure my son, and many others, have the best possible future. How blessed we are to have been a part of such a wonderful program and to know such amazing people! We love all of you and will miss you tremendously!

Today was the last day for classes at Sunset Therapuetic Riding Stables. "The Farm" as I lovingly call it, was my first exposure to "special needs" children. (I'm not one really for that term because I believe that all children have special needs, some are just more pronounced than others.) I learned so many things...I learned that #1 horses are not the scary animal I thought they were. #2 horses have amazing theraputic powers and can bring the biggest, brightest smiles to both riders and volunteers, #3 these kids can do the most amazing things when sitting astride these huge beautiful animals, such as saying "walk on", developing hand eye/ coordination by tossing a bean bag into a hula-hoop on the ground, and developing speech patterns by repeating letters and saying the name of the animal toy we are holding. They develop patience and trust #4 serving these kids made my heart sing with every accomplishment they made, no matter how large or small. I am so grateful to have had the opprotunity to volunteer here. I love the kids, the horses, and the staff. My blessings from this experience are abundant :). Sherry K
