I've reposted this and deleted the original post due to the large amount of fake or dodgy looking profiles taking an interest! Hopefully it won't happen again on this post!
Play never stops, especially in the snow!
Hamish & Little Wolf early this morning - when many people believe they would prefer to be having a 'duvet day'!! Nope- horses prefer to have choices and FREEDOM with their FRIENDS & plenty of ad-lib FORAGE. 🌿💚🌿
Tyrion having a lovely groom and pamper from Lily yesterday 🦄💙
Every time we take shoes like this off a new horse, it's guaranteed that hooves will be riddled with thrush.
Here at Three Ravens we are stockists of and use Hoof Doctor Oil & Putty, and I also make my own 5💚Hoof Clay- all of which are excellent for thrush prevention and treatment.
Ali's hoof before his shoes were removed yesterday.
We always have plenty of hay out, but horses like being together in groups to eat. Balemate round feeders are perfect for this- every shape and size of horse can fit round them to eat together!
Sharing is Caring! 🌿
Getting Phoenix used to scratches. He's less shy as each day passes. I filmed this a few days ago (you can tell with the weather!) He's now happy to accept a halter and lead rope on and follows a feel, being led around the pen.
(The green on his chest was applied by his breeder before he came- like most foals, the odd scratch and cut happens when they live in a herd environment 🥰)
Doylan Dances with Angels 🧡
Usually when I choose a name I'm fixed on it, but the longer he is here, the more I'm not feeling the name Noa, it just doesn't suit him. So......I've decided to change his name to one of my original choices, which really does fit with his little personality. He is now PHOENIX 🧡🔥
Lucy & Raven at the salt lick 😋
Sometimes it really pays off to let the water troughs over flow when you're refilling them 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦
Herd Life 🌿
Hero is very settled in the herd after a relatively short space of time. He seems to have taken a shine to new boy, Flash 🌿
Flash ⚡️ is out of the pen and settling in beautifully ⚡️

It’s become quite evident now that (dare I say it? Yes I do) many many vets and farriers are really behind on the current research and anecdotal evidence regarding laminitis and how best to eliminate it and prevent it taking hold again. And horses are having to deal with the remnants of advice which is actually harmful to them physically, mentally and emotionally. After what I’ve seen this past few weeks, I’m quite past caring about upsetting other professionals. We all have something new to learn, always! It would be nothing short of arrogant to think otherwise.
I guess it’s fair to say you don’t know what you don’t know right? But at what point does that become a welfare issue?
Now, what I will say with confidence is what we as a holistic industry of track systems and trimmers are achieving with laminitis is irrefutable, and cannot, or should not be ignored.
What you’re looking at below is a horse who just over one short week ago was given a very bleak prognosis of multiple farriers telling his owner he’s done for, and a vet saying his bone penetrating the sole is imminent and he’s going to be dead by halloween, if he doesn’t lose x amount of weight. Also whilst on box rest. He must not move or the laminae will tear more. With lumps of padding vet wrapped onto his frogs, and frogs only, for stability.
There is a repercussion to much that we do with horses, be it good or bad, there is one. And we must learn about them and how they will affect the horse before doing things to the horse that are going to cause those repercussions!
For me, it seems lots boils down to opinion l, which is fine I guess. But, with that, I also think what one deems a welfare issue is also an opinion.
A vet with some old school traditional training or someone of a different mindset might say that turning this ho
Flash is in with the herd 🐴
Flash meeting Fidel- who is standing on a mound and not the same height, even if it looks like he is!! 😅
This is Flash moving on our stony surfaced track, directly after being trimmed. Yes he has thin soles, yes he is recovering from a bout of laminitis and yes he will now be following our diet & nutrition protocol so his body will be fully healed.
Flash is 7 years old, and a few days ago, his vet recommended that he should be pts. Thankfully, Flash has fabulous owners who weren't ready to accept that he couldn't be fixed. 💚
Herd Life @ Three Ravens 🌿
After promising her all day, I finally got round to riding Gazelle this evening! We weren't alone, a couple of dragonflies, several Pipistrelles and a Barn Owl were all flying round the tracks with us, as well as Canada geese, ducks & Moor hens swimming on the water next door.
PHOENIX 💜
Kismet's half brother, PHOENIX will be coming to live at Three Ravens when he is weaned in Autumn. 💜
His stud name is 'Doylan Dances with Angels', a reference to my girls who have crossed over rainbow bridge 🧡
New girl Sarah has been here a few days, today is her first day out on the tracks. She's the chestnut ID stood behind Wal.
She's been grooming with herd members and had a good look round, all looking great so far, for a smooth integration. ❤
Moon, Buddy, Wal & Mary Jane enjoying the gorgeous weather AND meadow hay 😋
