It is with a lot of thought that I have sold off the last of my quail.
I will continue with Eileen Reece, Rosie's Roost, and Timmy Blackwell, with hatching chickens from their eggs. Sadly no roosters allowed in suburbia.

I will now focus on a new breed for me, Buff Orpington Ducks. These guys are rare throughout Australia, even more so in Tasmania. AND I can have the drake here

Unlike birds in general, who grasp a round perch, poultry, including quail, prefer to perch on a wider beam. This perch, built by my amazing husband,(who doesn’t like feathers), has been built with 2x4 pine.

When special baby needs a cuddle.
It’s hard to tell but she has snuggles right in with her beak in my cleavage, she is so relaxed she is like holding a teddy bear.
Oh and she is chatting to me.

Okay, first of all – NO! Chickens do not have teeth. They eat with the beak. This is the perfect tool for pecking feed in crumble or pellet form, small grains, grass or insects – sometimes a mouse! Their mouth contains glands that secrete saliva, which wets the feed to make it easier to swallow....
