Part of my village …. 🥰
A little protection training…
Working on my communication with Circe.
Alison reminding me of what I need to do
And Chris doing the helper work….
She’s getting there….
Or maybe it’s me who’s getting there 🤔🙄😂
Playing around with a sharper Down and Stand (in motion)
Flirt pole for reward but the placement needs to be better 🤔🙄😂
Psyche
Not recent videos …. Think she could show her sister a thing or two 🤔🥰
We have a thief in the house.
Psyche loves to steal the tv remote (& other things too) We don’t make a drama about it. Instead we allow her to parade with it and then come for cuddles - still holding her prize. Eventually we use what she’s learnt (to let go when asked). She’s given a cue ‘Thanks’ & drops her precious item…. Then to the ‘cookie jar’ for her well deserved reward 🥰
Yes, putting the remote out of reach might be a better option for some & Yes I realise that she’s now linked the ‘theft’ with the game….. but small things & all that ….. 🥰😂
Foundations are so important. They allow for the building of exercises and if done properly, set the dog up to succeed. If they have been set properly we can go back &/or add to them when teaching new exercises or when tweeting things slightly.
This weekend I was at a seminar and the instructor explained (& showed) how his method was used to teach a dog to hold a finger.
So when I had a couple of minutes spare I decided to make an impromptu video of me and Circe…. Could she hold my finger ?… well, she can hold a hot dog so who knows 🤷🏻♀️🙄😂
It was interesting g to watch her as she looked directly into my eyes and I swear I heard her whisper ‘really?’ “You really want me to hold your finger?” She reminded me of her mother as she tentatively took hold of my finger 🥰
It isn’t because she’s a super retrieve dog or even super bright, that caused her to quickly understand what was asked. The foundation work meant she understands each step and knows how to progress.
Sometimes ( only sometimes) her good side outshines her naughty side 🥰🥰😃
Little bit of Flirt Pole training during lunch hour
🥰
Protection Training
Compilation video of Circe’s most recent protection training session. The helper is on the field throughout. The aim of this (&many other) sessions is not about the bite work & it’s not about the precision of the work… it’s about listening skills (I suppose we could call it control) …. Can Circe listen to my requests… lts also about her being in the right mindset…you’ll see sometimes I just stand her and stroke her calmly.
The work went on for some time and the helper has to be super vigilant at all times as sometimes I’m working close to him and sometimes at a distance… I will send my dog at any time.
As usual Alison is there to make sure I don’t fall into my predictable ways 🙄😂😂…
Thanks Jamie Bows for the super work 😃
‘It takes a village …..’
No training to see
Just rain and mud
We got a little soggy 😳🙄😂😂
My friend tells me there’s no such thing as bad weather, just wrong clothing….
From last year … she was looking good….
That was then 🤔🙄😂😂😂😂
When your dog is bored of you gardening & asks for some attention 🤷🏻♀️🤔🥰
Little bit of training yesterday….
Slowly, slowly, Catchy Monkey ❤️
Circe - Playing with the hides 🥰
Circe - She has her Granny Quilla’s death shake 😳🙄😂😂😂
Stand in Motion…..
Stupidly 🙄 I haven’t taught this yet…. I Thought it was about time we made a start.
IGP3 - Stand in motion will be done from fast heelwork… it needs to be sharp.
Today I started playing around with the process
Lots of work to do 😳😂😂
Practice does not make perfect !!!!! 😳
Those who have been to my workshops have probably heard me ask… “What does practice
Make” and then I tell them …
‘Practice makes permanent. Only perfect
Practice makes perfect’
I’m usually pretty good at sharing my training videos - when everything is nice and pretty and going ok….🤔🙄😂
In the video there’s a yellow hide, then me, then a jump and in the distance a yellow pole.
Today I’m sharing my ‘not so good’ training.
Here Circe is learning to jump and go around a pole, return over the jump and he. Go around the hide. Later I’ll reposition the pole so Circe has to navigate the jump from an angle and still come in and sit straight.
But… you see on the first couple of reps Circe does a little spin before going around the pole. The next attempt is better and I might be fooled into thinking ‘She’s got it’ - she hasn’t. On the last attempt she puts that little turn in again. If I keep practising I’ll soon have a little turn added to her ‘’go-rounds’
Note to self……. ‘Corinne, stop practising rubbish behaviour’ 🤷🏻♀️😃
Back to the drawing board 😂
