WE ENDED UP 4th OVER ALL!! If you missed our freestyle here it is. She absolutely rocked it and gave me everything I asked for!!! She got better and better every day even with the hours and hours that we put in at the show. We were up at 3:00 am the night before practicing our free style and she never got grumpy or said no to anything I asked of her and tried so hard. It so amazing that just 120 days ago she was completely wild! She sold for $16,000 and has found a great new for ever home! THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED IN OUR JOURNEY, ESPECIALLY MY FAMILY, REBECCA, KATIE, AND SARAH, AND THE ROMNEY FAMLY FOR ALL THEIR LOVE HELP AND SUPPORT!!!
This mare is incredibly calm with everything that is going on!! I guarantee I’m more stressed that she is 😂
This is the top ten announcement.
Our trail went okay, actually she did great and I need a little schooling. We are siting 7th in the over all and will have to wait till Sunday to find out how well we did in the compulsory class.
Our maneuvers class didn’t go as well as we had hoped but we made it through with a placement of 14th. Luckily that only brings our overall score down to 5th which I’m very happy with. We only have to make it into the top 10 to make it to the finals🤞The maneuvers class have signs stuck in the arena dirt along the rail, and Cloudy wasn’t so thrilled with the new additions the the arena and kinda shied at the signs and broke gate at the first sign she saw.
We place 3 in the handling and conditioning class!! She far surpassed my expectations. I’m so proud of the courage she showed, and how well we were connected! She didn’t trot very well towards the big scary trailer, but other than that she was awesome!
We have left the cold and snow of Utah and we are now in Texas. If anyone is interested in seeing Cloudy in person and getting to know her before the auction, we are staying and boarding in Burleson Texas at Station 820. Station 820 is 18 miles south of Fort Worth. Feel free to message me so we can set up a time for you to come out and meet her.
It probably doesn’t seem like a big deal but it was. It’s so hard in Utah at this time of the year to find big groups of people and horses to work on desensitizing, so this was great! Golden Spike had a free ride last night and there were over 40 horses in their indoor. Cloudy did great and both our confidence’s are growing , and I think we are so ready to show in Fort Worth. We leave on the 7th so we will be in Texas two weeks early to acclimate, and just ride all day and work on our freestyle.
This is me doing gymnastics with Cloudy, and me riding in a cutting saddle. I was guiding her till we got to the jumps and then just letting her do her job. Before this day she had only ever seen one jump. I will soon be posting my friend Meghan riding cloudy Dressage with an actual Dressage saddle not a cutting saddle.😂
We played a little hooky this week and headed south to chase down some sun and fun. We ended up in Saint George where the temperature’s were 30 degrees warmer then at home. I’m so glad we did, we’ve accomplished so much this week. With the help of Meghan de Bruijn, Cloudy did some Gymnastics, rode Dressage, which I’ve never done before, went to Sand Hallow and played in the lake, and worked with all of our freestyle obstacles many times.
We went to a team sorting tonight. Sarah and her mustang Johnny from the Utah Festival Trainers Challenge and Cloudy and I made a great team!
Day 69
We were working on large fast circles, small slow circles, and flying lead changes today. I’m so proud of how far she’s come in such a short time!
Day 59
We’ve been working on desensitizing with the flag and guiding with one hand.
I brought Cloudy up the mountain today to help bring down my nephew’s elk. She had some initial hesitation, but got over it quick, and did great!
Showing my skills lunging a dog and a horse at the same time in opposite directions. 😂
I really love loping horses in the open field, and so does June.
We went out to Big Al’s and he let us play around with some of his cattle. I think I found something she like to do.
We made it to the fairgrounds today. Cloudy did great for the most part. She was a little looky about the dark corners, and scary roping shoots, and she was leaning towards Sarah and Johnny taking video. Way good for her first time riding at a new indoor arena.
This is from a week ago when we were working on the teeter totter bridges.
Working with Cloudy guiding between my hands and legs, and she’s doing really well.
