Topic: I’m not currently taking new clients

The app I have created for my pet sitting business is going to be deleted. Almost everyone has continued to contact my personal phone even with the app in place, so I will be canceling my subscription with them. Seems silly for me to pay a large amount of money every month for something people aren’t using.

I tried making the app so I would be able to cut down how much time I am spending on my phone after already working full 8-10 hour days in the clinic, in attempt to give me some kind of work life balance.

Since the app was a flop and my time spent answering calls and texts is increasing, I will no longer be accepting new clients. ☹️

I just can’t spend every evening being glued to my phone.

Thanks you all for your support and understanding. 🐾

I pulled ticks off of dogs in the middle of the blizzard last month. They don’t die off in the winter, they hibernate.

So, HEARTWORM and FLEA/TICK should be given YEAR AROUND! Yes, even in Michigan.

This is why we recommend Flea and Tick preventive YEAR round! We took ticks off multiple patients today. These 3 were off on just ONE patient! Call the clinic for any questions regarding Tick Borne Diseases!

Clyde gets a C.E.T. Enzymatic dental chew every day to help keep his oral hygiene up to par!

🪥They are enzymatic chews that help break down the plaque and tartar that resides on tooth surfaces. This plaque and tartar is what causes growth of pathogenic bacteria that leads to periodontal disease.

🦷If you want your pets to keep their teeth and avoid dental complications or extractions in the future, make sure to talk to your vet about the many different preventative options available that will best suit you and your pet.

I’m only posting this because I had someone tell me in the last week that I must be loaded because I work in vet med… if you saw my skills and knowledge at work, how much I have spent on school, and how hard I work and then compared it to my paycheck, you would cry for me.

I make more as a pet sitter than a veterinary nurse! And I continue to do it because I love saving animals and helping people, and it’s all I have wanted to do since I was old enough to know what a vet was.

Do you know that veterinarian’s responsibilities include examination, prescribing, prognosing, and performing surgery, and that the veterinary nurse/technician is responsible for EVERYTHING else? This means we are the ones performing:
-blood draws
-radiographs
-cystocentesis for sterile urine collection
-IV catheter placement
-dental cleanings
-dental radiographs
-subcutaneous, intramuscular, and IV injections
-anesthesia administration and monitoring
-surgical prep
-Scrub in to assist with surgery
-fill medications
-CPR
-central line placement
-answering phones and making appointments
-discharging patients
-Cleaning literally everything in the hospital
-reading ear and skin cytologies and f***l floats
-making and reading blood slides
-interpreting fine needle aspirates
-walking and feeding patients
-laundry
-obtaining patient vitals
-triaging patients
-and so much more

And most of us make a comparable salary to a fast food employee.

So please be mindful of this the next time you want to say, all we care about is money. We are required to have more roles than our human medicine nurses and techs, while making less than half of what they do with the same amount of school and debt. Be mindful of your words.

I also want to say I have worked at MANY practices and still have yet to find all the rich veterinarians I hear people talk about. 🤷‍♀️

It’s National Golden Retriever day! What better way to celebrate the day than with these 3 sweet boys🥰

Facts about golden retrievers:

-🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿They originated from the Scottish highlands in the mid 1800s and arrived to America around 1908

- 🦮 they are amazing guide dogs, hunters, and field dogs

- 🎾Goldens are a high energy breed and require plenty of mental stimulation and exercise

- ⚕️this breed is predisposed to certain health conditions. If you are purchasing a puppy from a breeder, please make sure they have undergone the proper health tests.
From the AKC, “Goldens are generally healthy dogs, and responsible breeders will screen their breeding stock for health conditions including elbow and hip dysplasia; eye conditions such as juvenile cataracts, pigmentary uveitis, and progressive retinal atrophy; and certain heart diseases, including subvalvular aortic stenosis. The Golden's ears should be checked weekly for signs of infection, and the teeth should be brushed often.

Recommended Health Tests From the National Breed Club:

Hip Evaluation
NCL DNA Test
Elbow Evaluation
Cardiac Exam
Ophthalmologist Evaluation”http://cdn.akc.org/Marketplace/Health-Statement/Golden-Retriever.pdf
