Last night we welcomed 11 babies into this world, two of which were veery tiny. One has since passed 💔🥺 and the other is fighting strong 💪🏼
We did go to the vet as a precaution because we suspected a uterine torsion. After checking heartbeats etc. via ultrasound we were getting ready for a caesarean - April was in labour but didn’t push. When we were about to put her under I noticed a first contraction and stopped the vet. Not long after, she had her first girl followed by another within minutes. We ended up having three pups at the vet and headed home for the rest of the labour without complications! Breeding is such a hard call sometimes and when dealing with precious animals we always have to act on precaution, however, I would have been devastated to do a c-section without the need. Unfortunately but also luckily dogs don’t go after the textbook and a big shout out to my vet at Crookwell Veterinary Hospital who was ever patient, even on a late Sunday afternoon with Christmas just in sight. I appreciated to see that April wasn’t pushed into surgery with the best outcome for her in mind. A huge shoutout to Aprils guardians, Dori and Mark, for your trust and support - I couldn’t have done this without you 💜
We so far have 7 girls and 3 boys 🥹 Let’s hope that Mrs. Purple keeps holding strong 💪🏼🤞🏻 The babies are just divine and I love my little rainbow 🌈 of colours 🥹
The breakdown of collar colours is to come in the next days 💜
April has been the goodest girl and I am beyond proud of her for being so calm and collected at the vet clinic, giving birth and throughout labour. She has been a great mumma 🥰🥹
I would like to shout out a huge thanks to Ann Claessen at Shelkeera Golden Retrievers, the lovely breeder of Bentley, who has sired this litter. I feel privileged to be using your boy and beyond excited for these little ones 💕
And last but not least to my dear friend Paige who supports me through every one of my labour with her intense amount of knowledge and expertise. You’re a rock 💜💜
