I just wanted to do a small post to thank everyone so much for their support over these past few months.

After being unwell and unable to work at the beginning of summer, I received nothing but kind messages and well wishes from all of my clients.

As most of my regular clients now know, I have taken an opportunity to go travelling - first stop Australia! 🇦🇺

It has been emotional doing some last sessions with regular clients over these past couple of weeks. However, this is not goodbye but a see you later as I will be in touch with you all again when I return!

Thank you all once again and I will see you all soon 🩵

I just wanted to do a post to thank everyone so much for your amazing support over these past few weeks. Most of my regular clients know that I have had a very difficult time being very unwell in hospital for the past two weeks.
The support and kind comments that I have received has been absolutely amazing and I can’t thank everyone enough. It honestly means so much to me.
I still have a long road to recovery but I hope to be back on my feet soon enough with a slow return to work.
I will be in touch with everyone once I am feeling fit again!
I miss all of my clients so much and am sending lots of pets and cuddles to everyone 💙

💙 Sakho 💙

Sakho has been doing so well with his regular physiotherapy. He also attends hydrotherapy sessions with AquaDogs in Lisburn!

The main focus of Sakho’s treatments are for pain management as he suffers with arthritis.

He is the most gentle boy and I always look forward to seeing him.

🐾 Client Update 🐾

I have been seeing Bailey for weekly sessions since he was involved in a car accident. He suffered substantial nerve damage to his forelimb so was unable to use it at all.

His owners have been so dedicated to his rehab programme and this has been a major factor in his progress. He is up running about again and really starting to use his leg. We are now focusing on building all that muscle back up again!

Bailey is such a pleasure to work with and I always look forward to seeing him every week ❤️

🌸 MEET THE CLIENT 🌸

This gorgeous girl is Amber. She is a 10 year old Cocker Spaniel.

I met Amber during the week for an assessment and treatment as she suffers from arthritis.

I hope to help Amber become a lot more mobile over the next few weeks. Her first treatment consisted of some deep massage, stretching and Laser. I am also creating a home exercise plan for Amber which her owners can carry out between sessions.

She is such a friendly girl and sat brilliantly during her first session!

🐾 Client Update 🐾

I have been working with Daisy since January. She is a 10 year old border collie.

Poor Daisy was involved in a road traffic accident. Fortunately she has made a great recovery!

I still see Daisy on a regular basis as she also suffers from arthritis. Despite all of this, she is a very lively girl and I am so happy to have helped her on her road to recovery ❤️

🌼 MEET THE CLIENT 🌼

This handsome boy is Bailey. He is a 5 year old golden Labrador.

Bailey was very unfortunate and ruptured his Achilles tendon. After not one, but two surgeries, he is on the road to recovery!

Bailey is such a high energy dog so I know how difficult this recovery process has been for him. I look forward to being able to help him get out and about again!

🐾 MEET THE CLIENT 🐾

This little cutie is Poppet. She is a 10 month old Pomeranian!

I met Poppet as she suffers from bilateral patellar luxation. This means that her knee caps slip out of place.

Poppet is definitely the smallest dog I have ever worked with and she is such a wee character!

I saw Sunshine again last week for her maintenance treatment 🐴

Sunshine’s session included some deep massage, TENS and Laser treatments, finishing off with some stretches.

She is always such a pleasure to work with 💙

These boys are regular clients of mine and I love seeing them every week.

I definitely have to say that Collies are the most common dog that I work with. Despite not being prone to any conditions, they always seem to injure themselves with their high energy personalities 🙈

🌺 MEET THE CLIENT 🌺

This gorgeous girl is Belle. She is a 13 year old Cocker Spaniel.

I met Belle as her mobility has reduced over these past few months due to arthritis.

It is so important to manage chronic conditions like arthritis to ensure your dog is not in pain and they can live their lives to the fullest even at an older age.

Belle is brilliant to work with and hopefully we can have her feeling a lot more comfortable soon ❤️

🐾 MEET THE CLIENT 🐾

This handsome boy is Bailey. He is a one year old English Setter.

Bailey was a very unfortunate boy, just after his first birthday he was involved in a road traffic accident. He suffered a significant injury to his shoulder which has left his leg paralysed due to nerve damage.

Luckily he has been making a great recovery and hopefully we can get him back on his feet soon! Both his vet and owners have been brilliant with him 🐶

🌻 MEET THE CLIENT 🌻

This cute girl is Molly. She is a 4 year old Cockapoo.

I have been working with Molly to target pain in one of her knee joints. As she is lame on this leg, she also suffers with a lot of tight muscle where she has been compensating.

She is such a lovely dog to work with and I hope to get her back to going for walks and her favourite game of fetch soon! 🐾

A few weeks ago, I spent the day at Greenmount campus speaking to a group of veterinary nursing students about physiotherapy.

I gave a lecture covering some physiotherapy techniques, home treatment plans and discussing how vet nurses can incorporate physiotherapy into their practice.

We then had a practical session where the students were able to carry out some physio techniques and use some exercise equipment.

I had the best day and got to meet some lovely people and gorgeous dogs! Everyone was so welcoming and I hope the students enjoyed their day too!

🐾 MEET THE CLIENT 🐾

This very handsome boy is Grizzly. He is a 5 year old Bernese Mountain dog!

Grizzly has been having physio sessions with myself as he suffers from osteoarthritis and hip dysplasia.

As you can see, Grizzly is absolutely massive, weighing a huge 80kg! I definitely have my hands full working with this boy 🙈

I have been doing weekly sessions with Sakho and he has made such a great improvement!

Sakho suffers with arthritis. His owner has been absolutely brilliant with him.

We are hoping to start some hydrotherapy over the next couple of weeks which will work brilliantly alongside his Physiotherapy with myself.

I love seeing this handsome boy every week 🐾

Little Ellie has been getting on so well with her physio 🐾

Ellie suffers with a luxating patella so she can be quite sore sometimes, especially with compensatory pains but we have been able to manage this very well and she is making a great recovery!

She absolutely loves her physio sessions ❤️

During the week, I spent the day at Deerpark Stud in Ravensdale.

I met some gorgeous horses who are all in race training. We did lots of full assessments and I treated those that had any issues.

Many of the treatments were to target areas of tight muscle causing pain and discomfort. This is very common for horses that are in hard work such as racing. The treatments mainly consisted of massage and deep muscle manipulation, stretching and range of motion exercises, TENS and Laser treatments.

All of the horses, owners and trainers were a pleasure to work with and I hope to be back at Deerpark Stud again soon!

This beautiful girl is Daisy ❤️

I have been working with Daisy as she was involved in a road traffic accident. Fortunately, she has been very lucky with only some soft tissue damage and she has been making a great recovery with the help of physiotherapy.

As you can see, she is the happiest dog and I love seeing Daisy every week!

Misty has been making some great progress with her recovery!

I have been treating Misty as she has some nerve damage through her front leg. This means that she is unable to use this leg properly and struggles to bear any weight on it.

I have been treating Misty with LASER, NMES and manual therapies alongside a tailored home exercise plan.

She is so brilliant to work with and always tries her best with all of the exercises that I give her!

I hope to get Misty back up and running about as soon as possible ❤️

Little Bobby sat so brilliantly for his LASER treatment this afternoon 😍

Toby was so relaxed during his LASER treatment this evening! I have been treating Toby for pain and stiffness through his back and hind limbs but he has improved so much that I now only visit him once a month for maintenance sessions. Normally Toby can be quite nervous during his physio sessions and it can be difficult to carry out manual therapies such as massage and stretching. I was so happy with how he reacted to the LASER as I can now incorporate this into his treatment plan. I always look forward to seeing Toby for his physio and hopefully he is feeling a lot more relaxed after his treatment this evening ❤️

❗️CLIENT UPDATE❗️ I am beyond happy with how well Polly is coming along with her treatment. I saw Polly a little over a month ago. She was unable to move her back legs, she couldn’t stand up or walk at all. She was almost completely paralysed through her hind limbs. As you can see from the video, she has come a very long way in such a short time. With the help of myself, her vet and her lovely owner, we have been able to get her back up on her feet and walking around the garden again! She doesn’t even need support to walk anymore! She is still quite unbalanced and struggles to get up after lying down for a while but with some more hard work we can hopefully get her back to her old self! There are still a lot of people that have doubts about physiotherapy and what it can do but Polly is a great example of what we can achieve!

A lot of my posts recently have been about dogs but let’s not forget about the horses too! Today Chester had a treatment, this involved a deep global massage, some stretching and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES). NMES is used to stimulate weaker muscles in the body. Chester has a lot of muscle weakness and atrophy through his hind limbs, particularly the gluteal muscle groups on both sides. The NMES has helped to strengthen these muscles again and get those hind limbs moving properly! However, the use of NMES is not a quick fix, this has to be used with an intense rehabilitation programme on a daily basis, but the results can be amazing! 🐎
