🍅Come to Sat 9/21 & say hi.
🥕Get some goods.
💐We keep surprising ourselves with these harvests.
🌸Sometimes it’s best to be less critical and more grateful.
🫑Cheers to a wonderful Sept 20 harvest.
🙏🏾Huge thanks to all those showing up on the farm - to harvest, to do science, to hang out, to chill with the kids, to help.
🌻We appreciate you.

🌸🥕🍅Sometimes we worry that we don’t have enough abundance or the crops aren’t perfect or the w**ds are too much. August may be a real challenge in a lot of ways. But the beauty of these veggies can’t be denied. A lot of sweat and toil have gone into these babies. 🥬🧄🫑

We’ve been pretty quiet over here

Embracing winter to rest, plan, ski, cook, hang. Abdoulaye never really stopped. He’s been finishing the second high tunnel, using the intermittent warm days to prep beds, add compost, fill woodchips, etc. And is now full steam ahead with planting.

Season 3 has officially started. It’s amazing how much a year can change. We’re so far ahead of last year. Our goals this year are improved efficiency, getting our succession plantings in, extending our season, community building, and embracing help from others on the farm as we learn and grow together.

Here’s a sneak peak of some of our early season veggies that will be available right on the farm in the farmstand, , and .

Peas, spinach, scallion, onions, bok choy, lettuce. And sooo much more to come.

Enjoying a late August afternoon . Thinking about all ways we can do better in year 2. But also being proud of all we accomplished this year. And thankful for so much help from friends, family, neighbors, community members, and fellow farmers. Here’s some of the beautiful things grown right here, right now available in the farm stand.

The Farm to Cafe pipeline

Green Mountain Orchards blueberries come in the back door and leave through the front, transformed into tender, delicious blueberry scones. Tomatoes from Dog River Farm and Ananda Gardens become BLT's and tomato sandwiches. Corn from Dog River goes on this week's special pizza. Khelcom Farm supplies the Shish*to Peppers for the savory tarts and the eggplant for the Baba's Ganoush. Greens from Bear Roots Farm and Pete's Greens, eggs from Wicked Bines Farm, the list goes on and on.
There is a small army of Vermonters who grow the food, transport the food, create the menus, and then prepare the food for you. The trickle that starts in late winter with the first spinach has become a tsunami, a never ending stream of the freshest, best, and brightest produce, the magnificent gift that this land we occupy bestows on us every summer. There will be a time to rest and reflect on the miracle that is harvest time in Vermont, but for now it's all we can do to keep up- keep your head down, pick those tomatoes, w**d those greens, box it up, ship it, blanch it, chop it, bake it, wake up and do it all again. Like Lucy and Ethel on the chocolate line (https://youtu.be/NkQ58I53mjk) , loose focus for a second and you're buried.

This week's special pizza has Dog River Farm corn, cotija cheese, Khelcom Farm jalapenos, mozzarella, and garlic, and is finished with lime sour cream & Bear Roots Farm cilantro. $26
The Red Hen Cheese pizza is $24, $25 with Vermont Salumi

The salad will be Pete’s Greens spinach, Ananda Gardens roasted beets, toasted walnuts, and Vermont Creamery chevre, with a balsamic vinaigrette.

Pizza night runs from 4 until 7:30

Music this week is from The Maple Run Band (https://campmeade.today/events/maple-run-band) , starting at 5:00.

The Hazelnut Creemee is unbelievable! With the chocolate drizzle, or the chocolate and the peanut butter drizzles drizzled together, Whoa! Or a chocolate / hazelnut shake? Come ON now. Tomorrow is the last day for Hazelnut, and then we're back to Maple and Vanilla for a week. Did you miss the ginger last week? What are you doing? Creemee season lasts longer than tomato season, but it, too, has an end. Don't live a life full of regret, summer is for Creemees!
