Snazzy new boots for an elite showjumper, this horse predominantly works on surface arenas, so giving the horse width and length allows it to ‘float’ on top of the surface allowing no sinkage. Therefor allowing me to aid the limb when this particular horse is in work. 👍🏻🐴

A pleasure to do the horses at hope pastures yesterday.

Kizzie has quite brittle feet, predominantly down to Laminitis and irregular foot care from her younger years. I had to be cautious of over trimming the foot and nail placement.
But she seemed a lot happier after shoeing, and re-alignment of the HPA (hoof-pastern axis).

Plus it’s always nice to get looked after by clients getting coffee and blueberry muffins as a Thankyou!

Job from today, really tricky flat feet, I changed the shoe, adding side clips. This allowed me to pull the shoe under the foot, this then allows me to pull the toe back further hopefully regaining some hoof normality. This would also mean reducing the shoeing cycle, to keep on top of the foot deformation.

Apologies for the final photo, I thought I’d taken a few turns out I can’t use a camera very well. 🤦🏼‍♂️

A little pedicure on Fanta today. Good, strong, solid feet, scrubbed up well!

Barshoe put on today to stabilise the foot, as the horse was suffering with sheared heels. Barshoes will help by stopping the heels moving individually erasing irritation within the central sulcae (centre of frog) to between the bulbs of heel.

Heart bars for little jack today, been diagnosed with laminitis, luckily caught it at an early stage, been advised by the vet for heart bars and box rest for 6/7 weeks. He walked away a lot happier in his new slippers, after being very sore for the past 2 weeks.
