This is my new pal Draco. He’s currently at the @bergencountyanimalshelter. He came in as a surrender in October. He’s was dropped off and his “owners” never looked back. He’s very treat motivated and eager to learn commands. He seems to be ok with other dogs but a meet is required before adopting. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting him, @heartandsoul_dog_rescue has graciously offered to get him out of the shelter should they have a foster/adopter lined up. Imagine being throw away, pregnant, giving birth two days later in a loud noisy shelter !? Well that’s what this girl Mix Mix went through. Anddd all her pups were adopted and no one ever came for her 😞. It’s been said that she’s a bit stand offish but as you can tell, in the right hands she blossoms like a flower ! She’s leaning to walk better on leash but seems to know some basic commands. We are working on her socialization skills with people as she can be shy. To many of you this may not look like training. Ruger is up for adoption through @heartandsoul_dog_rescue and came in with a very odd trigger….towels. Now unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a before video as it was unexpected and I just started working on it. Is this video I have tried to stick with a #positivetraining #method over to much correction. He was visibly tense when seeing a towel and even worse if it touched him or went near him. I’m really proud of this girl. Rosie has come such a long way. When she first came here she had ZERO impulse control. The second the food would come out she would dart and be focused on the food and even growl at times. Now she controls herself and looks to me for direction. Great job Rosie girl !! ‼️‼️DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME ‼️‼️ As stated in other posts, Rosie impulse control hasn’t been that great. Also, she thought every time someone went near her while she was eating they were going to take her food. Her instinct from being a stray was to protect. As you can see, I’m making HUGE progress with her trusting me that I’m not taking it, I’m simply just in the room with her showing her positivity when I do come near her. Again, I do not ever recommend anybody going near a dog while they’re eating whether they have issues or not. I’m just trying to make her comfortable while eating if people are in the room with her. She will be up for adoption after her 4 to 6 week board and train through @brick_city_rescue.
