Milk thistle gets its name from the milky sap that comes out of the leaves when they are broken. Some people call it Mary Thistle & Holy Thistle. The unique white veins have been called the Virgin Mary’s milk. Milk thistle has been used for centuries to treat many illnesses.

We’re celebrating the Great Southeast Pollinator Census with a picnic at Decatur Legacy Park with Intown Atlanta Chapter of the Georgia Native Plant Society! Meet pollinator enthusiasts and some awesome vendors. This is a great opportunity to learn why it’s important and tips you can use to complete a count. We will also be showcasing our counting app, which removes the need for a physical counting sheet.

We have been getting questions about when bee classes are coming back. This Saturday June 29, 2024 will be our first of about 3 or 4 classes in the next couple months. -Improves Heart Health: Helps control blood flow & strengthens the heart, arteries, capillaries, and nerves.

-Packed with Antioxidants: Its high antioxidant content can help neutralize free radicals in the body.

-Improves Digestion: Capsaicin is the active component in cayenne pepper that helps increase the rate the digestive organs secrete gastric juices, making the digestion process smoother.

-Pain Relieving Properties: If you struggle with chronic pain or arthritis, applying a cayenne pepper solution topically may help reduce inflammation, relieving pain.

-Immune Booster: Can restrict disease-carrying microbes from entering the body.

Serving Size: Generally, a tablespoon is considered the proper serving size for cayenne pepper, however, if you’re eating it in its whole form, your serving size may be more.

Growing Cayenne Peppers: It’s best to plant Cayenne Peppers in the Spring. Be sure to plant them in a sunny area. These peppers do very well in containers. Try planting them in a black container. The black color attracts the sun, heating the root zone.
