Does anyone know if lavender is safe for rodents please? Online sources are mixed and I'm not listing it until I know for certain.
We make pet toys by hand, from either 100% natural or 100% recycled materials.

Mr FN has sliced up the last of the pear tree for table tops. The ones on the far left are a bit too rotten but the ones to the right are absolutely gorgeous - look at those colours! I've sorted all orders so will be working on sanding these beauties down and making platforms / tables. If you want one with a specific leg length, let me know now. They're going to be around £35 apiece as they're quite large and tbh, they're stunning, I can't wait to make things!!
Thanks so much for your input guys, I ended up going for a simpler version of what I have. A bit more reflective of myself 🤣
It's blackberry season and Dennis is hungry :-) These take some drying as they are FULL of water. It takes so bloody long to set them out though 😩 Why can't they be square??
Had a couple of isues the last week - massive thanks to The Computer Man in Chesterfield for the rescue! The power pack had gone, new one all fitted and back to work.
Today I'm harvesting watercress. This has a peppery flavour. Edible for all rodents, rabbits and humans. It's actually really nice in a salad!
Dennis was hapy to get rid of this lot. Kitty, not so much as more work is required. Pear stem now all chopped up, under supervision of course!
I going to update stem forage to offer the option of long or short stem, I think.
Did you know pear stem was also safe for dogs....
(PS dont tell Mr FN I pinched the roasting tin.)
I love building platforms but they don't seem to be as popular as they used to. What can I do better?
If you could have FurryNatural include ANYTHING, what would it be??
She's worked hard on supervising builds, so we had a bit of a play ☺️
Can anyone recommend a really good pair of secateurs? I normally swear by Spear & Jackson but these have not done as well as my spade/fork etc. I just need something simple and sturdy 🤔
Hi guys, I've not forgotten about the hammocks. Sharon has brought in an AMAZING new sewing machine. I'm scared to look at it in case it goes all Christine on me 😳
Birdies!
I do cater for birds (I've always had budgies, but never a parrot). I don't have great luck with my swings and I know my birds have used them happily in the past. Can they be better, or just be completely redesigned?
The natural branch ones have done better than the pine, but I don't want to make more if they're just a bit crap 😂
I've bought Mr FN a present to help finish off the recovery of the pear tree. He did all the research and apparently this one is going to do the job...I'm sure he'll let me know!
Hopefully the new forage photos are helping demonstrate the portion size per pet. This is Sycamore leaf, and should last a while, even for a guinea pig - and only 50p/portion!
I had to move Hamish the banana plant upstairs becaue Tess kept tipping him over. He's doing well and seems to be much happier now he's not being knocked daily by a certain four-legged Dobie 😂
Had to pot up the kale as it was growing fast! This is a flat leaf perennial kale "Taunton Deane". I try to use perennials where I can as I don't have to keep digging up / planting / buying etc.
And it tastes really nice!
Gathered some lemon mint and rose petal this weekend and Dennis is much happier - he says he looks very pretty!!
On the back of my pear branch hiding, I've chopped up the small ones and Dennis has had a bit of a grump at me for loading him up with something so boring 😂
Found a little hidey hole in the house so the pear branches can finish drying out. I'm pretty sure I've got away with the hidden pille, but I'm expecting a choice word from Mr FN on tlhe larger pear stem in the little bathroom 😳
Been busy harvesting today, a very pretty array of forage!
One bundle of spinners remains unclaimed. The first rescue to be tagged wins it! It will be posted out tomorrow.
Okay guys, I've done about 90% of the forage. If you could have a quick look and let me know what you think of the new pics and blurb I would be so grateful x. Hopefully it helps demonstrate that 5g goes a LONG way!
Not sure how to add a poll to make this a bit easier...
Rescues!
I have 4 bundles of about 20-25 spinners available posted to you free of charge.
I have a fifth bundle set aside for Happy Hamsters UK if you could send me a postage address.
These are all made from apple wood, 100% natural jute twine and a lobster clasp. If you send me back your clasps I'll make the same amount again and post them back to you for free.
The first four rescues to comment with their rescue name and address will win, so to speak.
I'll try and get more bundles made up in the future if you miss out x
Absolutely amazing place!
Wild camping in our private woodlands tonight - we still have some available tents, hammocks etc you can borrow. Looks to be a lovely warm evening around the campfire. Bring your own food, drinks - plenty of fire wood, pots and pans, fresh water, toilet and washing station.
Havenswood, between Alfreton and Clay Cross message for availability or to find out more 🔥🌳🤗👍
Hi guys, I could do with your input please! I've been tweaking the photos and wanted to know your thoughts. I've not done the blurb yet, but if this new picture set works for you, I'll roll it out this weekend.
The main focus was to show you what 5g actually looks like. The animals are life size and the leaf is spread on a piece of A4 paper (will add this to th blurb later)
Furries: Ferret, Pygmy Hedgehog, Giant Rabbit, Dwarf Rabbit, Guinea Pig, Chinchilla, Rat, Degu, Sugar Glider, Syrian Hamster, Dwarf Hamster, Gerbil, Duprasi, Mouse, Spiney Mouse. Feathers: Chicken, Parrot, Conure, Cockatiel, Budgie, Finch, Lovebird, Canary
Oh, shiny!
Mr. FN spent yesterday looking up a bigger and better jetwash. It arrived today 😂
Had to adjust the photos so they're not tiny and show the leaf better. Thoughts?

Today's job is chopping up the pear tree that blew down in a storm a while ago. I'm starting to realise it's a bigger job than it seemed 😳
Keep an eye on the bare branch section today chaps! It's going to take me a while but it should be fully stocked by the end of the day with large and smaller branches 😊
We have donated this huge rabbit hide to a lovely rabbit rescue to help them raise funds for buns in need 🐇

This evening we have been sent a lovely video of Tinkerbell doing her best mission impossible stunt! Her human slave wanted to create a free access ladder to the floor for playtime and as you can see Tinkerbell has aced it in no time at all! She loves to zip up and down, but some days she’s just too much of a Queen and wants to be lifted down from her throne! Isnt she just gorgeous?
Having a sort out today and showcasing our collection of bare branches and collection only branches
Super proud of our little shop on our brand new website and Kitty for putting in some serious hours this week getting it all up and running 😍 lots more items to be added over the coming weeks!
Beautiful Bertha working her magic this morning 😍 … We have noticed that our packaging consumption has vastly reduced since investing in Bertha and her pillows and mattresses can both be reused or recycled, we love that we can be involved in the 3 R’s as businesses have a responsibility to be mindful of their carbon footprint!
I've taken advantage of the weather after work today to sort my compost bins so I can plant some veggies! I'm hoping to get time to tidy the workshop before Emily see it as it's a bit of a tip lol. Apologies for the sound, I took the video for my mum, my folks live 200 miles away and I haven't seen them for nearly two years now. Covid sucks.
A beautiful pair of fixed ladders made today for one of our lovely customers. These ladders blow us away with their beauty every time we made one!
It’s here and IT’S ALIVE (cue manic laughing)…. Our pillow machine dubbed Bertha has joined the FurryNatural family!
One of our absolute favourites!! Very time consuming but they always look SO beautiful! This is a 90cm beaded ladder and can be found on our shop on Etsy. We always try to use contrasting woods too, this highlights the patterns and grains in each wood. This lovely ladder has birch rungs and hazel beads. Just beautiful!
