Hello and first and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read this.
My name is Melissa Landwersiek and I desperately need temporary financial help in order to keep my horses, Tater and Jeezy.
Taters has been with me for almost 15 years and Jeezy almost 10! These horses were lesson horses when I was training. They were incorporated in equine facilitated therapy programs, and touched a lot of lives. We accomplished a lot while working together at the riding schools and at the substance abuse rehabilitation center.
Be it from the lessons, horse shows, trail rides or therapy sessions, these horses have provided so many laughs and smiles, confidences and have instilled kindness into everyone they work with; they are indeed worth their weight in gold to me. They have more than proven their worth.
Now there is me… I have a slew of health issues that would cause most people to question my sanity for putting my body through so many years of physical intensity, but in reality, the passion drove me to keep going.
It drove me to keep showing, to keep teaching and training, to keep giving my all to get sealed caskets to open up and let their skeletons out… to help is all I’ve ever wanted to do. To help the girls get to the shows if that’s was their dream. To help the midlife cowgirl go on her first trail ride, then 6 months later help her buy a horse. To help all the people who stood in front of us and gave their guts, trusting our process would provide self improvement. To do all of this, and so much more, when my body begged for rest, it was because the passion drove me.
But the passion drove me down physically while still growing daily in every metaphorical way possible. I am, and have been too sick to be doing all that I have done physically over the recent years. I have driven myself to bed rest, and now I need more help then ever before.
The debt is growing and I desperately need more funds to feed, care for and house my horses.
I am an open book and am happy to discuss any of my illness. I currently have a blood infection, am being tested for heart failure and looking for organ damage. An unfortunate fall from a seizure I had a few years back has unfortunately caused an issue with my brain as well and we have more investigations to do. The days are getting harder I must admit, I’m getting weak fast.
