Progress Update: Helping Pets & Setting Goals!

We're excited to share our progress on two meaningful goals:
🐾 250 Dog Walks for the Nebraska Humane Society: So far, we've completed 33 walks!
🐴 50 Week Horse Feedings: We've cared for horses 5 times this year!

Every step we take and every feeding we provide helps make a difference in the lives of these animals. But we can't do it alone!

Long workdays, unexpected plans, or even just a busy schedule can make it tough to be there for your pets. That’s where I come in! Whether it’s a quick potty break, a check-in, or a little playtime, I’m here to make sure your pets are happy, comfortable, and cared for whenever you need an extra hand.

Booking regular or occasional visits not only helps ensure your pets are well looked after but also helps me continue serving our wonderful community. If you’ve been considering a bit of extra help, now is a great time to schedule!

A Journey of Love, Pets, and Roller Derby Dreams

Hi, I’m Kat, the heart and hands behind The House Kat Pet Sitting. My life revolves around family, community, and, of course, pets. I like to think of myself as part pet whisperer, part caregiver, and all heart. My journey has been shaped by love, a little bit of chaos, and an unshakable belief in doing what feels right.

Family First
Family is my anchor. My husband Dave and I have built a home filled with love, laughter, and plenty of fur. Supporting my kids as they navigate life has been one of my greatest joys. My daughter recently moved out, and while I miss her every day, I’m so proud of the life she’s building for herself. Whether it’s listening when she needs to vent, helping her brainstorm solutions, or just being her biggest cheerleader, I’m here for her every step of the way.

My son is finding his footing, and our family recently grew in the most beautiful way with the arrival of my grandson. Right after he was born, my son’s cat, who had stayed with us for two years, went to live with him again. As a bonus, we also welcomed a new family member—Persephone, a loving and playful kitten who has brought so much joy to our home. Life isn’t always easy, but milestones like these remind me how special family truly is, and we navigate it all together.

My Business, My Passion
I started The House Kat Pet Sitting because pets are my people. They’re quirky, unpredictable, and endlessly fascinating—just like me. Over the years, my business has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of. I offer pet sitting services that go above and beyond, giving peace of mind to pet parents while making sure their pets feel loved and cared for in their own space.

I focus primarily on cat sitting and dog walking, but I also offer other services like drop-in visits. My specialty, though, is making pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their humans are away. I’ve even added perks like a pet cam service, so owners can check in on their furry friends anytime.

Volunteering and Giving Back
Helping pets and their people doesn’t stop with my business. I volunteer with Lost Pets of Omaha Area, scanning for microchips to reunite lost pets with their families. I also lend a hand at the Nebraska Humane Society, doing whatever’s needed to care for the animals. For me, it’s not about recognition—it’s about making a difference, one small act at a time.

Tuna’s Lesson in Trust
One of the most memorable cats I’ve cared for was Tuna, a diabetic kitty who taught me so much about patience and trust. When I first started giving him his insulin, I had to inject him through the slats under a mattress because he was too scared to come out. Over time, Tuna came to trust me enough to step out for his injections. He passed away recently, but his memory reminds me why I do what I do: building trust and creating connections with the animals I care for.

Life After Roller Derby
For 10 years, I lived a completely different kind of life as a roller derby skater. It was fast, intense, and thrilling—everything I loved in a challenge. Walking away from it wasn’t easy, but if I go back I know the risk of injury could put my business in jeopardy. I miss it every day—the camaraderie, the rush of competition, and the strength it gave me. But I channel that same energy and determination into my work, always finding new ways to push myself and my business forward.

The Journey So Far
I’m a certified professional pet sitter and a Pet CPR/First-Aid instructor. Winning second place for Best Pet Sitting in Omaha was a huge honor and a reminder of how far I’ve come. I’m beyond grateful for my family, friends, and clients who support me every step of the way.

Life is unpredictable, but that’s where the beauty lies. My goal is simple: to give every pet and their owner the best care and peace of mind possible.

That’s my story—filled with pets, compassion, family, and a whole lot of heart.
