I do not take in owner surrenders, but can post your guinea pigs on my page as a courtesy listing. Foggy Creek Cavy Rescue is also a sanctuary for un-adoptable guinea pigs, and occasionally will have guinea pigs available for adoption.

Every day I get emails, calls, or messages asking me to take in guinea pigs. Foggy Creek Cavy Rescue has been closed to surrenders for some years now. I realize it can be confusing, since occasionally I do post some on here that are available for adoption. These guinea pigs are usually returns from past adoptions. Plus, "rescue" is in my name, right? I'm thinking of changing it to "sanctuary". I am here to offer advice and boarding, and a final home for the few oldies left.

I am not accepting surrenders. Do not call, email, message, or even drop by (!!!!) expecting that I will take your guinea pigs.

There are other guinea pig rescues, but they are usually full as well. There are shelters, although many don't have the facilities for small animals. You can post online, on the Facebook groups like Washington State Guinea Pig Lovers, or PNW Guinea pigs. There's a website called The Guinea Pig Finder (although they still have me listed as open, I'm working on changing that) where you can post them. Many vet offices will let you put up flyers.

Or you can just keep them. Take allergy meds. Give them bigger cages so they don't need cleaning as often. Don't worry about spending time with them (most would prefer you didn't, anyway).

To repeat, I WILL NOT TAKE IN YOUR UNWANTED GUINEA PIGS.

Sadly, we lost one of our old ladies. Poppy passed away last night. She was one of our permanent residents here, living next to her buddy Inej. This photo was from last Easter, and she looked basically the same, except she was blind in both eyes at the end. We will miss her!

These babies were recently returned to the rescue and are now ready for a new home. Tiana and Priscilla are young females who still have some growing to do! Message me if you are interested in adopting. Cage must be a Midwest or larger, these girls love to zoom around! Because of Priscilla’s long hair, experienced adopters are preferred.

Wow! If you are looking for a pair of guinea pigs, go put them on hold down at Auburn Valley Humane! They are to be spayed and neutered! Which is great if you have a lonely adult male, since a male will almost always accept a spayed female as a companion.

Toast and Koko are still looking for their forever home! These babes have been with us 1.5 years and haven’t had luck finding a family. They are polar opposites which makes them such a fun couple! 🐽

Edit: they’ve been adopted!!!!

These two baby skunks (oops! I mean guinea pigs) are still available for adoption! Lots of people inquire but so far no one has followed through. Babies are adorable, right? But guinea pigs grow so very fast and they will only be babies another month or so. Not that adult guinea pigs aren't adorable, but, you know, babies!

These little girlies are available to be adopted as a pair, or one as a companion to your own lonely female.

Twins! No, not quite. This is Twix and his son Snickers. They are available for adoption! Twix is more used to being held, but we are working on that with Snickers. Right now they are separated by a grid divider so they can see and interact with each other. Snickers is going through adolescence and keeps trying to be dominant over his dad. You can adopt them singly, as long as you have another guinea pig or two to live side by side. If they aren't adopted separately, I'll try removing the divider to see how they do.

Update—they’ve been adopted! Do you have a lonely female looking for a companion? Would you like to experience babies without the dangers of breeding?

Adopt one of the baby girls here! We have three a little over a month old and one 3 month old. So adorable! Adopt them now, while they are little and cute! Yes, I know, all guinea pigs are adorable, but babies especially so!

Ready for adoption! One adult male, one 3 month male, one baby male, one 3 month female, and three baby females! It will say on the individual photos.

Must adopt at least a pair, unless you already have one that needs a companion.

I have a strict cage size requirement. 10.5 square feet for a pair.

PM if interested.

Coriander, Paprika, and Lemon have been with us for 325 days and have not gotten a single inquiry. These girls love to wheek and enjoy head rubs. They were living in a less than ideal enclosure before they came to us and they have adjusted so well.

Adopt this adorable pair of brothers! Look to be under a year old. They were left on a friend’s doorstep. They are currently at Iron Horse Hay and Feed https://m.facebook.com/IronHorseHayFeed which is a great place to get food for wild birds, pets, and livestock. Cage included (although they will most likely need a cage upgrade) for $60.

This is a courtesy listing. If you are interested, go check them out! In Maple Valley, WA.

Courtesy Listing! Annabelle and Hyacinth need a new home!

"Annabelle and Hyacinth are a little shy but both very sweet piggies when they are being held. They have a large cage, hut, extra shavings, and I will give whatever pellets and hay that is left. I had a baby recently and just do not have time to give the love and attention they deserve so want them to go to a good home. They are about 3 years old and have been together since I got them as babies. They love veggies and will get extra chatty when they hear the fridge open or plastic bags rustle. I live in the Graham area."

"Hi, the blondes name is Spicy and she is the leader. The black with the brown spot is Rosita and she is the mom of the other black guinea pig, Coriander.

Spicy is super friendly and curious and will hang out near you in her enclosure and she loves to be held. Rosita is more reserved, but the best to hold because she is very calm and will let you pet her for a long time. Coriander is definitely spunky and loves to nibble on things to taste them, but she loves head scratches and full body pets. "

As you know, I often post courtesy listings here, to help people re-home their guinea pigs. Please don’t respond to the listings unless you are able to provide:

1. An indoor only home. Not outside, not in a garage, not in a shed. INSIDE YOUR HOME, where you live.

2. An appropriate sized cage. Often the guinea pigs being re-homed need a cage upgrade. Please be prepared to offer a large cage as soon as possible. And not your typical hard plastic bottomed pet store cages, but something like a C&C Cage (you can make one yourself, or buy one). Www.guineapigcages.com

3. Please don’t split up bonded pairs. Most of the time these guinea pigs have been together for years. They get along just fine, and trying to add another to an already established pair can cause upheaval for all!

I love being able to help out with these courtesy listings. But for heaven’s sake, please do your research!

Courtesy Listing!

Here are 2 male guinea pigs about 4 years old, both really sweet. Their owners have been making changes in their lives recently and the boys need a new wonderful home! The black and white guinea pig is named "Sweenie" and the red, black and white is named "Clyde". Located in Puyallup.

These boys are adorable! Comment here if you are interested in them.

Foggy Creek Cavy Rescue used to set up a table in various stores, sometimes to showcase guinea pigs available for adoption, but usually to make people aware that there are even such things as guinea pig rescues! I was available to answer questions about guinea pig care, as well. I hope that when the Pandemic is over we can do things like this again.

I believe this photo was taken at a Mud Bay. Most Mud Bay stores carry Oxbow products for guinea pigs and rabbits.

Happy Halloween! Hey, did you know that guinea pigs can eat pumpkin? Yes, they can! But they might not want to. After carving our pumpkins we give the extra pieces to the piggies, but after a few bites they politely refuse.

I forgot to take my phone into the rescue room to take pictures, so here’s a cute stock photo instead😕
