Meet Chief. He was found on the railroad tracks in Luttrell in March, and hasn't found his person yet. He is 2.5 years old and will need a fenced yard. If you are interested, please submit an application at http://www.unioncountyhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-form/
Here is a bio written by someone who had him on three-day outing:
I don’t mind telling you that I’m a beautiful German Shepherd mix with long legs, a sweet face, and intelligent eyes. My friends tell me that I’m adorable! I love people and love being affectionate – snuggling on the couch with those I love is one of my favorite things to do . . . after playing outside, of course! I love to play fetch with a squeaky ball and can do that over and over again. I’m especially good at catching the ball after one bounce (people say I’m quite the athlete!). I always bring the ball right back. I know several commands already, like “drop it,” “leave it,” and “back up,” as well as “sit,” “shake,” and “down.” (I guess I’m pretty smart!) I get along well with other friendly dogs and enjoy their company. I am very good in the car and enjoy going for rides. I lay right down and never make a peep. I’m also well-behaved in the house. I don’t chew on things and I’m not destructive with toys. I do have a good amount of energy so I like to keep busy - a good old-fashioned game of tug-of-war is always fun! I can also amuse myself by tossing around soft toys (this skill will probably amuse you too!). When the fun is over, I love settling down and looking out the window watching the world go by (if you want to watch with me, that would be nice). I’m doing very well with house-training too, but need a little more training and routine to get it down pat. I am able to tell you when I need to go out by going to my leash or to the door to let you know. My ideal home would have a fenced-in yard so I can run and play with you. I also hope to find someone who loves going for long walks like I do. I admit that I need a little more training with that too, as I do pull on the leash. But I’m so eager to please that with a bit more patience and training, I know I’ll become a super-star on walks (have I mentioned that I respond very well to treats?). I would love to attend obedience classes with you, and I even think I’d do really well with agility training. I should mention that I would prefer to have a home where I won’t be left alone a lot – a bit of time alone is okay. If I sound like a really great dog, that’s because I am! (Not to brag, of course!) I’d love to meet you, so if I sound like I’d be a great match for you, please come and see me soon. I’m waiting.
