**ADOPTION SPOTLIGHT**

FRED'S STORY

Fred had it all until last year.
An adoring and committed human family, plus an older sulphur crested mate.
Their combined love and company filled his cup to the brim for thirty whole wonderful years.

He was devastated when his mate passed away in 2024, and the poor guy hasn't managed to find his confidence again.

He compulsively looks for company and reassurance, more than his humans could ever give.
Their hearts are breaking for him.
They simply do not have the capacity to take on a new friend for him at this stage of their lives.

They absolutely devastated to part, but hoping against hope that there's someone amazing out there with a well looked after friend, just waiting for him.

He deserves all the good things in a wonderful environment with a feathered friend to make his poor heart whole again.

HOUSING REQUIREMENTS

Fred's extra large cage (approx 2m high x 92 cm deep x 117 wide, on wheels) can go with him to his new home.

When his mate was still here, they spent most of their time in separate cages right up next to each other.
As he is accustomed to this, there is no requirement to house both birds in the same enclosure.
This makes their management much easier for human.

LIFE WITH FRED

Fred, (aptly named after Mr Astaire) is a creative soul, a performer, and a problem solver.

He absolutely lives to dance!
Enthusiastic boogies with the humans are his thing, but he'll also practice on his own when nobody seems to be watching.
Music is left playing by his enclosure most days and is a huge part of his life.

He loves toys he can manipulate and get creative with.
Give him a knotted light rope?
He'll set to work unknotting it then spend delightful hours twisting and threading them through the rungs of the cage.

He's an accomplished mimic who delights in picking up both sounds and phrases. So that's the code word, 'mimic' Include it in your initial message and we'll prioritise you. We like people who actually bother to read about the the animal they're considering adopting.

Fred is used to an active household and is not at all bothered by kids or dogs as long as they don't make him feel harassed.

Old-school diets of mainly processed bird seed are a major cause of compound health problems. They have been repeatedly proven to reduce your parrot's life expectancy.

Limiting processed seed and providing unlimited access to nutrient pellets, fresh veg, and a little fruit is the optimal diet to keep Bird healthy and glowing.

*Lorikeets, Eclectus and Amazon species not included. These species require very specific, specialised diets.

Lori lovers, please help! Poor sweet little Bazzi (special needs) is about to be homeless.

He was living his best life with an awesome human when tragedy struck and she never came home 💔

He's currently in the care of a wonderful lady, but her lease has been terminated.
All our carers are at capacity, and he has nowhere and nobody who can help him.

LIFE WITH BAZZI

Bazzi, the Musk Lorikeet may have been born flightless with deformed feet, but he certainly doesn't let any of that slow him down!

An otherwise typical Lori, he's the noisiest little ratbag on the planet and a total love sponge.
He LIVES for fun and interaction and would be with his human 24/7 if he could!

Bazzi is easy to handle. He can sometimes be a bit timid around new people, but warms up fast when shown kindness.
He'll soon be happily stepping up into your palm and climbing straight up onto your shoulder for chats.

All in all, if you aren't bothered by his LOUD spells, he's the sweetest little mate in the world with an enormous heart.
Just wants nothing more than a comfortable home and a human to call his own and smooch with all day long!

BAZZI'S REQUIREMENTS

▪︎A VERY SPECIFIC DIET

Lori digestive systems are unique.
They require a diet of Vetafarm or Passwell lori mix, as well as fresh fruit and veg.
Any processed seed at all in their diet causes gradual wear and tear on their systems which dramatically shortens their life expectancy.

▪︎ENVIRONMENTAL ACCOMMODATIONS

Bazzi's feet were deformed from birth so he's never known any different and gets around well. They do prevent him from perching in the usual manner though, so he requires rest platforms as well as branches.

These platforms, and the bottom of his enclosure, should all be covered with woven water hyacinth (popular for baskets) or other soft, parrot-safe material for maximum comfort and safety.

He deserves to be able to put those little feet up and rest properly whenever he needs to, so the code word is Relax. Include it in your initial message and we'll prioritise your enquiry. We like people who actually bother to read about the animal they're looking to adopt!

If you love ringnecks, PLEASE consider poor little Otto, his situation is very sad.

He had a loving home until very recently, when the most tragic of circumstances took his human from him 💔

He's currently the verge of being homeless.
All our carers are at capacity, and the lovely human who cared for him during the emergency is moving very soon.

He's a gorgeous boy with lot of love to give, but, being a typical Ringneck, he needs a confident handler.
Someone who can both laugh at him, and help him thrive by reminding him who's boss.
He'll walk all over ya otherwise 😄

LIFE WITH OTTO

Otto will live in your head for free.
He likes to get your attention.
Lives for attention.
Wants to be the centre of it all and will side-eye, stink-eye and murderous-look you when he doesn't get his way.

Lots of chats, head scratches, and kisses are a part of life with Otto, but always on HIS terms.

He's definitely a boundary boy.
Has his own and doesn't like overstep.
He's also a cheeky critter, constantly reaffirming juuuust how far he can stretch the rules.

He was never taught step up, but enjoys the shoulder. He returns to cage with little-no fuss if you pop his dinner in.

OTTO'S REQUIREMENTS

A good amount of company and out of cage time is essential for Otto's physical and mental wellbeing.

His current diet is optimal for long-term health and will need to be maintained:

▪︎Lots of fresh veg
▪︎A bit of fruit.

He particularly loves his veggies finely chopped, so Shredded is the code word. Include it in your message and we'll prioritise your enquiry. We like people who actually read about the bird they want to adopt.
His fruit, however, he prefers pressed between the bars.

Hi all!

We're coming to you guys today to talk about this sweet galah, Roy. Roy has been in our care since August last year; he was originally a stray who never found his home, and was cared for by a vet nurse supporter of ours for a considerable amount of time.

When he came into care, he'd already had some health concerns addressed, but we had to take him back to the vet when some other issues arose late last year. He had a fungal and bacteria infection in his mouth and crop, which was also present in a faecal sample; an enlarged liver which was not new, but meant his liver enzymes on the bloodwork were elevated; some inflammation in his choana, which may be secondary to Vitamin A deficiency; and a lump under his abdomen which is suspected to be a fatty lump.

Since his vet visit, his foster carers have done an amazing job having him on long courses of antifungals, antibiotics and liver medication, whilst also working on getting him onto a better diet, and getting him fit by encouraging him to walk, as he cannot fly due to an old wing injury.

Roy is due for another check up now on these previous issues, and he is beginning to show signs of the mouth infection again. This is expected to cost between $600-800, as he needs bloodwork and xrays done.

Bean loves creating a passionfruit mess!
She doesn't eat the pulp - just the seeds, and as you can see she flicks it everywhere 🫣
