Curb Your Dog…AND your Temper!
I have been taking my older dog Abby (12 year old Malti Poo) to places farther afield of late in our daily walks. One reason was that I had an ‘encounter’ with an anal-retentive neighbor over the dog pooping in his yard…In my defense, I knew the guy was a paranoid and she had never gone in his particular yard in the past. Of course, it’s never ok to just let your dog go in someone’s yard-day after day-but the dog usually doesn’t go on her walks at all-, just sniffs and squats-and I let her go in these woodsy copses that are close to our home after letting her try for our own yard….I know-Curb your dog! I had big dogs, went to dog parks for years with bags…But the point is- The guy creeped me out with his Bobby Jindal-like smirky smile as he walked to me and just said in a controlled voice, “I would appreciate if if you would bring a BAG…! (The guy had probably laid in wait for me for a year or more to say this!) Sadly, before this, I thought he was kind of cool- he had a Tesla- but this just creeped me out royal. I didn’t know she was going to go then, and even had thought about using a wood chip to just push the teaspoon-size turd out of his yard! He supplied the bag, I scooped it up and decided that we were going to re-think our route from now on- 12 years going down that street was enough!

The point here is this: I am loving the thought of finding new areas to walk her in the neighborhood, she loves the change of pace- and bag or no bag wherever we go-I am feeling more relaxed -as a walk is supposed to be- without the thought of “Mr Creepers’ peering out and just lurking in wait for me to walk by with or without a BAG!!!!! NOTE: **Will carry a bag in the car from now on to avoid more cases of Creeper Peepers…..:)

Instead of National Canine Lymphoma...we are celebrating "Dogs Long Gone" But those dogs did die of cancer!!
Here is the Montage of (Some) Dogs Long Gone (Abby is still with us!)…They are my Setters and all but one died of cancer. They are doing studies now on dogs-particularly Goldens-who have high rates of cancer. My English Setter had Hemangiosarcoma, which I have long suspected came from a veterinarian who gave her a trial study drug for heartworm prevention that I found they pulled from market specifically because it caused this cancer…The Vet is no longer practicing-but it’s a cautionary tale I learned the hard way. Do NOT allow vets to use your beloved pets for trial drugs and experimental studies unless you are fully aware of risks – or if perhaps your dog is already diagnosed with cancer….
