What a beautiful mess she is! 💕
Babette has that cute response when you scratch her spine near her tail. Precious Bobo used to do the same. We call it: “Lick the sky!”
It’s amazing how well this old lady is doing! Barely a year after her brush with death at the Wichita Animal Shelter, Babette still lives with a variety of health issues (including FIV), but she’s absolutely thriving. In addition to being a total cuddle-bug, Babs is undeniably one of our most playful cats. She’s been attending to this particular toy for the last 20 minutes. 😁❤️😻🐈⬛
Bobo and Phantom, enjoying their nightly cheese.
P.S. Cats are generally lactose intolerant, so don’t feed them dairy unless they’re already FIV+, on their last legs, and just really really love the small, daily pleasure of shredded mozzarella.
Babette at the vet! She purred and made biscuits throughout her exam. Things look good for her. Dr. Jou thinks she’s young — only 2-3 years — and is optimistic that a steroid shot and some antibiotics can help with her handful of issues (paw ulcers, crusty skin, upper respiratory infection). Babette will always be a little ragged due to her FIV+ status, but she should have a great healthy life ahead. Since she is so much “better” (for lack of another word) than expected, we might even be able to adopt her out to a wonderful home of her own. I didn’t really imagine that was going to be in the cards for her. ❤️
Babette has arrived! She’s going to be great!
The Wichita volunteer who sprung Babette from the shelter for us last night is actually an Animal Control Officer with a heart for helping. Babette is spending two nights with her and taking a trip to the vet before she hitches a ride to Texas tomorrow.
Here is the ACO’s experience with Babette, immediately after picking her up from the shelter.
I am amused and delighted that the cat was “disinclined” to stay in its box; chose, instead, to “take a seat;” and also was unfazed by her new travel companions.
Presenting: “Bobo plays with a cat toy.”
This is as playful as I’ve ever seen Bobo. 😄
It’s a gift that he simply comes out to hang out with us in the kitchen during dinner prep. He sleeps a lot, eats slowly and steadily, and has the most agreeable disposition ever. His health expectations are unknowable, but he is completely content and very loved.
Sweet boy has been chillin in his private suite (i.e. our guest bathroom). He is a very affectionate, calm kitty with a good appetite. We’ve got an appointment at Gresham Veterinary Hospital tomorrow to get a more in depth consideration of what’s going on with his persistent congestion
Waiting in the exam room at the vet. This cat is unbelievably friendly, y’all! There is some rumor that the previous owners said he is FeLV+. Getting combo test done now, and praying that is not the case.
