PULLED by rescue TY!!!
Azalea A2493815 is an eight-year-old, 33-pound female who arrived at PRC unable to stand, very unsteady, and possibly hit by a car.
When she first came in, she was struggling to breathe and had noticeable swelling and cellulitis on the inside of her left back leg. She was knuckling on her front feet and couldnโt use her back legs at all, though she was still alert, looking around, and responsive to what was happening around her. She also had severe skin infections, painful ear infections, and eye issues caused by entropion, where the eyelids roll inward and irritate the eye surface.
Radiographs revealed that Azalea has significant pelvic trauma, including a fractured right hip socket, a fracture in the left ilium, and a dislocated left hip. Additional pelvic fractures may also be present. Imaging also showed mild fluid around her lungs and inflammatory changes, likely related to her injuries. Her bloodwork suggests inflammation and mild dehydration, and her ear cytology showed a heavy yeast infection.
She appears brighter with pain treatment, medication, antibiotics, and eye ointment, and IV fluids. She ate a portion of the food offered to her and was able to urinate and defecate on her own.
Despite her progress, Azaleaโs injuries are significant, and she will need strict cage rest, continued pain control, and close monitoring of her breathing and mobility. She now needs a rescue that can provide a quiet, stable environment to help her continue healing and receive the ongoing care she deserves.
If you can help Azalea through the next steps of her recovery, please reach out. She is a gentle dog who has been through a great deal, and she truly needs a place where she can safely continue healing.
