The long journey starts small! After 20 years of keeping and breeding a wide variety of reptiles, starting with babies has always been our favorite. We started with baby green iguanas, bred quite a few gecko species over the years, but these baby tortoises are the real focus of our obsession. We absolutely love how unique each species is and the variety of habits they display.
Here are some of newly acquired young tortoises! Our goal is to raise our own breeding stock, as naturally and healthy as possible. We focus on species that can live in our climate as we believe they are best raised out doors with natural sunlight and fresh food to graze on.

Hey everyone The last time I posted some pictures of my leopard tortoise. She was my first I've had many other species over the course of my life. most of them have been geckos, I've had some chameleons, and even now I still have a couple of species of snakes and lizards. Have you ever had a species of animal that you didn't expect to fall in love with? There are a bunch of animals that I've had just to have them and I didn't exactly fall in love with them but this species captured something inside of me and it's really hard to explain. It is a tortoise species and even when I got them I wasn't thrilled with them but the longer I've had them the more I just have come to love them. The pattern on their shell is absolutely amazing. I've always loved contrasting colors, small size and big attitude. These tortoises definitely fit the bill here are my Burmese stars. But what about you? have you ever had that species or do you have that species that you weren't quite sure you were going to love but you ended up falling in love with them? Let me know I'd love to hear your story.

I've always had an interest in a variety of reptiles. I started with an iguana an then I progressed to a leopard gecko that I got when I was in fourth grade. I still have this leopard gecko and I've had him for over 25 years. He was full grown when I got him. When I was in 5th and 6th grade I remember begging my parents for a bearded dragon. I was super excited when my dad finally let me get one from the neighborhood reptile show. But the animal that I have had the longest is one that I got when I was 14 years old and it's this girl right here. This is Goliath. she was a little bit bigger than a quarter when I got her. She is a giant South African leopard tortoise. And would you believe it, when I got her I only paid $75 for her. Whenever when anybody comes over one of the first things they ask is, " where is the big tortoise?" Since I started raising tortoises I've come to realize how magnificent of a creature she is and how lucky I am to have a specimen as amazing as her. This is Goliath my 22-year-old leopard tortoise. I finally have a mail for her. I am hoping for her offspring and the next one to two years, maybe three if I have to be patient. She was a shy girl today. That's her in the middle of the pic with the three Leo's in it. How long have you had your longest scale or shell baby? I would like to know.

And so the journey begins. I've been keeping reptiles ever since my dad got me my first iguana when I was in fourth grade. I would never recommend giving a fourth grader and iguana.we actually had the iguana for several years before we had to give it away because you know, it got too big. I've kept reptiles almost all of my life. I have had some successes and many failures. My experience has brought me to a group of animals that I never fully appreciated. And it wasn't until my cousin Jeff Bogdanoff, and his insistence that I give tortoises a look that I came to appreciate the beauty and diversity within this group of animals. Here are some of my mine. This is a sub adult trio of pancake tortoises. They are my favorite tortoise because they're flat! Here's to our next reptile journey. You'll be sure to hear from Jeff or myself about our growing collection.
