The latest news is that Henry is moonlighted at a petting zoo in Collingwood. And, not surprisingly, he is always the star when school children come up and visit him at his farm.

Henry was a rescue heading for slaughter when a kind person found him. Henry faced another challenge recently – laminitis. With temperatures set to drop within the next couple of weeks, here's why you should buy a tank de-icer for your equine friend:

1. The average horse will drink 30 (or more) litres of water daily.
2. Horses will drink less water in the winter due to the cold temperatures.
3. A tank de-icer not only will keep ice from forming but it will also provide slightly warmer water, making it more appealing to drink.
4. Horses require more water in the winter as dry hay can contain less than 15% moisture, and adequate water intake will help to prevent intestinal blockages (colic).
5. Snow is not an adequate water source for horses in the winter.

Hi there. I’m GRACIE, a Standardbred racing horse (You know, the ones that pull the cart around the track with the way cool running stride. Awesome, am I right?). I was one of two horses left in the barn when they were closing shop and didn’t want us anymore. GULP! Then there was one left…yours truly. I was getting nervous with the humming and hawing I was hearing about my destiny and then totally freaked when I heard the S word…Slaughter. Then an Angel called Sharron appeared. I heard the words “rescue farm” and began feeling hope. Next thing I know I’m put into a trailer and off we go to someplace called Crystal Beach. Who knew there was a beach called Crystal, eh? But I digress, sorry. I now live surrounded by love, compassion and warmth I never knew existed. Sharron named me GRACIE (after the main character in Miss Congeniality. I know). My first name EV-ER. I’m 20 years old and was never named. Huh. I love it here with my awesome companions. And, as you can plainly see, my ABSOLUTE FAV companion is this young woman, Cheyenne. She told me she had some anxiety issues around us bigger horses because of a fall she had when she was young. She knew she was talking to the choir when she mentioned.....anxiety. I soooooo get it. We're now BFF's. Funny how that works, eh? You look into someone's eyes and BAMM....the bond happens. Inspite of your history or war stories....you just KNOW. She can even get up on me now. How cool is that? Turns out we're each other's lifeline. Come and see us, ok?

We all think our horses should be immortalized with a statue. Here's an interesting article from Horse Canada on the special equines that have been, including two Canadian entries, Hickstead and Big Ben!

The Kelpies are 30-metre-high (98 ft) horse-head sculptures weighing more than 300 tons each and depicting shape-shifting water spirits known as kelpies.
