"I am My Father's Daughter"

There is and old Swahili proverb that says "The daughter of a lion is a lion". I first heard this at a Pursuit Conference in Cleveland, TN a few years ago. It was so profound and stuck with me. Last year, I started this painting and then set it aside as I got to a point where I couldn't seem to move forward with it artistically. It could be that I needed to go through the journey of trusting the Lord that I have been on for the last 9 months or so. One day last week I picked it up and the inspiration to finish what I started was there. I believe the title is from the Holy Spirit.

"Joy in the Winter Season"

During the bitter cold last week, this title popped into my mind. Boy, oh boy, does it ever nail exactly where I am in life right now. One trial after another! However, I have found joy in the journey through trusting Jesus with all my heart. He has been faithful to walk with me every moment and sent others to walk alongside me as well. He is good. He is good. He is good.

This guy has such a great story! He was adopted by my friend who had lost her beautiful dog, Treasure, and was grieving. He has had big part in healing her heart. I was commissioned to paint his portrait as a thank you to the lady who fostered him while he was waiting for his furever home. Just look at that smile. His happiness with his new family shows right up through his eyes. His portrait is now hanging in Virginia to remind his foster parent of the wonderful work she is doing.
