Our Basset Hound Story starts in 1989 when I bought my first Basset Hound, Floyd instead of an air conditioner. Good Move!! It changed my life.

Through the years I have noticed the different quality of Basset Hounds. It is our mission to make a better hound available to folks. Soundness, good health, temperament, breed standard. We pay much attention to nutrition. It is our intention to send people home with a happy, healthy Basset Hound puppy. A sick pup will cost you way more in the long run than one that some may feel is a little high priced. A lot goes into putting good and healthy Basset Hound puppies on the ground. Basset Hound nutrition and needs are different from other breeds. It’s really important to stay in touch with your breeder so you will have the most positive experience possible. As breeders we will continually reach out for bloodlines and show points in the lines for continued improvement of the Basset Hound.

Our Bassets are our family. We love them for the individuals they are. We breed ONLY Basset Hounds and for that reason we are able to give total attention to our Bassets. Nutrition is very high on the priority list. From conception our Basset babies are nourished with the very best nutrition has to offer. Moms are on NuVet Plus throughout and as soon as our puppies can begin to eat, NuVet is put into their Formula. This is a supplement that strengthens their immunity.We have eliminated what used to be commonplace ailments in their infancy. So Much is affected with our protocol.

Wormings begin at two weeks of age and every two weeks rotating meds as to remain effective. Vaccinations are up to date and No puppy will leave here before NINE weeks of age.Later if we need be as our first concern is the well being of Your new Baby.

Coming from farming families, we are two passionate young farmers who own our dairy farm. We have a herd of Jersey cows of approximately 150 head of which 70 are lactating. We are now certified organic for the milk from our cows and for all our field crops. We work hard to preserve the environment and develop healthy and sustainable agriculture. Our choices are constantly linked to a return to the basics of what nature offers us. The health and well-being of our animals are our priorities.

On the family side, we are parents of four beautiful boys: Clément, Éloi, David and Bastien. They are our pride and will perhaps take over our dairy business for a 6th generation of Lemieux on the farm. Work-family balance being at the heart of our lives, children follow us and learn from our passions. Our four children are daily involved as much in the work of the farm as in the tasks in the kennel; they love getting their hands dirty and are aware that with everyone's efforts, we will be able to build great things!

We had our first basset hound in 2003 when we were finishing our college studies. His good temperament and his unique style seduced us immediately. Her sad but endearing gaze, her relaxed side and her kindness towards children suited our life perfectly!

A friend who breeds Chihuahuas convinced us to get a registered dog to ensure the quality of our Basset Hound to start our breeding. After much research, we found Venus! She arrived from Texas in October 2005.

Big ears, bigger personalities!

Who can resist that short & stout tough look, while being swoon by those droopy sad eyes, and those long velvety ears??

We know we can't resist it here!!

Aside from their obvious cute-factor, one of the other reasons we love Basset Hounds so much are their unique personalities!

Basset Hounds are a very devoted and intelligent breed, as well as a STUBBORN breed.

Because of their intelligence & persuasive behavior, people often joke that the dog is training them! Be forewarned, they’re not always joking; the dog is making mental notes of your behavior for next time.



And a Basset's sense of smell is amazing, second only to the Bloodhound! Seems they can smell dinner across the acres around here! For this reason, even a well-behaved Basset Hound can easily get distracted by tracking a scent & wander off, so keep track of your Hounds!

Our Bassets are also our family members, enjoying the comforts inside our home right along with us! We believe this is as it should be, breeding or not. Although we intend to add a few to the Pack, it is for that reason you will never see our Pack grow larger than we can comfortably accommodate inside the house with us

Our puppies are kept indoors along with their parents, and are socialized well with our family, to better prepare them for yours. Our youngest three kids are 5, 7 & 13, and love to play with the adult dogs and their puppies, so they are all very used to children. I am dedicated to the preservation of the Basset Hound in a quest to meet the standard. I am an active member of the Basset Hound Club of America. At present, I co-breed with Damarna Bassets and work closely in cooperation with other quality breeders.

Growing up my dream was to have a Basset Hound. One day, in 1998 after completing treatment for Breast Cancer, my dream came true when a young basset puppy named Bucksnort joined our family. Fast forward a few years and I find myself involved in the world of showing and breeding. I co-breed predominantly with Rabbit Run Bassets but work closely with other breeders to help reach the goal of producing purebred Basset Hounds that closely reflect the breed standard.

Our litters are well thought out and planned. The parents should have titles confirming that they adhere to the breed standard. Potential pairings are evaluated to find the match that will produce a litter that maintains and hopefully improves the quality of the breed

Our puppies are whelped and raised in clean, warm surroundings and provided with the best physical care and the socialization they need; this includes from mom and the litter mates. Emotional and mental stimulation is needed so they fulfill their genetic potential. For this reason our puppies do not go to their new homes until at least 12 weeks of age. We do not take deposits on puppies because we cannot say for sure if (or when) a puppy will be available. In order for us to determine if a puppy will be kept as a show dog the puppy needs to grow and mature a bit. Not only do we look at temperament but we look at the physical structure of the puppy as well. Once the determination has been made that a puppy is appropriate for a pet home that will be notated near the picture on the web site. We also do not have a waiting list for the main reason we cannot guarantee when a pet puppy will become available. By the time the puppy is about 8 weeks old we will have a better idea on availability. Just keep in touch with us!

It is important to us to ensure our puppies go to loving and safe homes. We will talk on the phone to get to you know and invite you to come visit the puppies. We do have a contract that you will sign.

We are a USDA and STATE LIC. facility that has been in business for over 20 years.We are inspected by USDA and STATE several times throughout each year. We are also inspected by AKC and our own Vet. We never know when they are coming for a visit.

We don’t let our puppies go to there new homes until they are at least 8 weeks old and prefer to keep them here with us until they are 12 weeks old as the pups seem to do better at this age when they go to there new homes.

Basset Hound is a loving and happy breed. They are rate number 2 as a scent/trail dog. The Big long floppy ears help stir the scent for them. They are a slow moving dog but make a wonderful Family companion! They are great with Children!
