With just the use of a small leaf rake, it took artist Breathe A Blue Ocean only an hour and 45 minutes to complete this 120-metre-long artwork in Geelong, Victoria.

โ€œI donโ€™t count steps or use GPS or drones to guide me. Itโ€™s a freestyle type of drawing method, I build it piece by piece,โ€ they said.

"Itโ€™s about vision and emotion and this piece was how I envisioned the wildlife in Australiaโ€™s fires."

In the photo the bushfire smoke covers the sky and if you look closely, you can see the tiny speck that is Breathe A Blue Ocean standing in the middle of the artwork.

An adorable picture of an orphaned kangaroo named Doodlebug cuddling a teddy bear is taking the Internet by storm.

Tim Beshara, an adviser to Greens senator for Tasmania Peter Whish-Wilson, shared the picture of the eastern grey kangaroo on Tweeter this Wednesday. He also explained that his wildlife caretaker mother took it from her home in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

After the picture was shared, it immediately caught everyoneโ€™s attention. Beshara was surprised that the picture became so popular.

โ€˜I figured it would be shared in Australia but Iโ€™ve been shocked to see the image reaching as far as Brazil and Russia. Iโ€™ve even had American morning shows using it on air,โ€™ he said.

Gillian, Besharaโ€™s mother, found out that orphaned animals loved the teddy bears she hung around the yard. Animals treat the teddy bears as a companion.

Beshara said his mother later corrected him on the species of the animal. Although he was originally listed as a wallaby it was in fact a kangaroo.

Beshara said his mother Gillian assumed care of Doodlebug when he was abandoned as a newborn.

โ€˜He may have fallen out of his motherโ€™s pouch or his mother may have died. He was a couple of months old when he was passed onto my motherโ€™s wildlife company WIRES.โ€™

When Gillian took Doodlebug in, his health was poor. However, now he has fully recovered and is back in the wild.

โ€˜She has since nursed it back to health and it is now hopping around the forest and coming back for the occasional feeding or cuddle, as the image shows.โ€™

Nine of our rescues moved into the new soft release enclosure today, they arrived with minor injuries and required minimum treatment. We have released them into a large enclosed site where they can be monitored and hopefully once the fires are over we can release them to a suitable location. We had the flash pop up vet tent installed today too until permanent vet building is ready!

EDโ€™s note: the people handling the koalas are not only wildlife experts, but theyโ€™ve devoted their lives to working with Kangaroo Islandโ€™s fauna.

The handling might seem rough to some, but these are wild animals, and they can cause serious harm to their handlers and to themselves if not handled properly.

These people know precisely what theyโ€™re doing. Their goal is to get the koalas to safety as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The footage is upsetting, but this is one of the realities of the climate crisis confronting us all. Itโ€™s important people see this, but also understand what they are seeing. - Chris Graham, Editor.

Australia is on fire, and Victoria is one of the few places native waterbirds have left where they stand any chance of being safe ๐Ÿ˜ข. And yet, right now, Premier Daniel Andrews is making a decision on whether or not to allow these precious few animals to be shot out of the sky... for 'fun'.

The situation for wildlife now is urgent. Between drought and bushfires, native waterbird numbers are at a critical low. In fact, populations are at breaking point. At at time when we can't afford to let even one of these vulnerable animals die, it's unbelievable to think that Victorian Labor would allow thousands to be brutally maimed and killed for a ''recreational' duck shooting season. Please, speak up URGENTLY ๐Ÿ‘‡

Arid Recovery

Anyone looking to help wildlife after bushfires - here is a simple cheap way of getting water out for animals.

We've been making these 'water fountains' to help wildlife affected by drought at Arid Recovery. The can be made from equipment available in any hardware store. The key is to completely seal the top and bottom of the PVC tube with plumbers cement. This creates a vacuum that holds the water in the tube and limits evaporation. They last about a fortnight here in 40+ degree temps before they need to be refilled.

Wherever possible, it's best to place the fountains amongst some shelter to reduce evaporation and give animals shelter from predators as they come in to drink.

With all the facebook posts about wonderful people caring for wildlife amidst the fire and heat disasters over these past weeks a silent tragedy is happening. ๐—ž๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ'๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฑ๐˜†๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด because people are trying to help but don't understand how a koala actually drinks.

The little Koala seen in the middle picture is Arnie. He comes from a little town north of Bairnsdale. Arnie survived the heat wave AND fires with only minor burns to his feet and hands. His burns were healing. He survived losing his mum and the loss of his home. He was found by some very caring people who did what any human would do when they find a distressed animal, and offered him a drink from their bottle of water. They were just trying to help. They didnโ€™t know that it is dangerous for Koalaโ€™s to drink this way. They didnโ€™t know that Koalaโ€™s usually get most of their water via the gum leaves that they eat and they donโ€™t often drink water, but when they do, they are face down and lapping small amounts with their tongue. They didnโ€™t know that when a Koala holds it head up and takes in too much water, it can easily get in to their lungs and cause Aspiration Pneumonia, which is usually fatal. This is exactly what happened to little Arnie. Despite a mammoth rescue effort involving all three emergency services and wildlife rescuers he diedโ€ฆ more specifically he drowned. It was heartbreaking for everyone involved.

If you find a Koala in need of help in the heat or in a fire zone, please IF it is safe to do so then catch it in a blanket and transport to the nearest shelter, otherwise take note of its location and let someone know the details. Please note that Koalas can cause nasty injuries so if the Koala is resisting do not try and pick it up. PLEASE remember that Koalas are arboreal and nocturnal. If you see one sitting on the ground during the day then please contact a wildlife rescue organisation. They are usually very stressed if they are at the point of allowing human interaction, so please do not try and take selfies with the animal as you are just causing continued stress.

PLEASE share this. With all the videos going viral of people giving them water from their bottles, the koalas have an added risk, during an already dangerous time! Please tell all of your friends... and if you see a video of someone pouring water out for a Koala comment on it saying...
