Chronic skin conditions that cause itching, hairloss, scabs and odour can be frustrating for both pets and pet owners alike and can be truly tricky and frustrating to get a handle on
For this case we used an integrative approach of a natural diet and nutraceuticals to strengthen, balance and heal the body from the inside out, while controling secondary skin infections with tradtional medicine
Of course, none of this would have mattered without my client's perseverance and trust in the process. She did an amazing job to make these improvements a reality!

Jamaican Brown Dogs 🐶 🌴
Jamaican Brown Dogs, often referred to as "street dogs" or "mongrels" in the Caribbean, are a unique and resilient breed known for their adaptability and affectionate nature. Let's dive into what makes these dogs so special and how we can best care for them!
🐾 Origins and Characteristics:
Origin: These dogs are native to Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. Their lineage is a mix of various breeds, resulting in a diverse appearance.
Appearance: They typically have short to medium coats in shades of brown, but can also have black, white, or mixed colours. Their ears are often perked or semi-floppy.
Size: Medium-sized, usually weighing between 35-50 pounds.
Temperament: Jamaican Brown Dogs are known for their friendly, loyal, and intelligent nature. They are excellent companions and adapt well to family life as long they are socialized early as puppies.
🩺 Health and Care:
Common Health Issues: Like all breeds, they can be prone to certain health conditions. Regular vet check-ups are crucial to catch issues early. Common concerns include:
Parasites: Regular deworming and flea/tick prevention are important.
Skin Issues: Due to the tropical climate, skin infections and allergies can occur.
Nutritional Needs: Ensure a balanced diet to maintain optimal health.
Vaccinations: Keeping up with vaccinations is essential to prevent diseases like parvovirus, distemper, and rabies.
🏡 Living with a Jamaican Brown Dog:
Exercise Needs: These dogs are active and require regular exercise to stay healthy and happy. Daily walks, playtime, and mental stimulation are key.
Training: They are intelligent and respond well to positive reinforcement training methods. Early socialisation and consistent training will help them thrive.
Grooming: Their short coats require minimal grooming. Regular brushing will help keep their coat healthy and shiny.
❤️ Adoption and Rescue:
Jamaican Brown Dogs often end up in shelters or as strays. Cons

Alpha and Beta’s Health Journey: Combating Obesity and Heartworm Disease
Meet Alpha and Beta, two impressive Belgian Malinois Shepherds, who are starting their journey towards better health. Recently, they were diagnosed with heartworm disease and have started the heartworm treatment protocol that can span 3 or more months. However, Alpha and Beta face another significant challenge, Obesity, which will affect their overall long-term health and complicate their treatment for heartworm disease. Let's explore how obesity affects dogs, how it can be addressed, and the connection between weight and heartworm disease treatment.
How Obesity can affect Heartworm Disease Treatment
Maintaining a healthy weight is crucial for effective heartworm treatment:
Medication Dosage: When a dog is obese the dose needs to be based on the ideal body weight of the dog and not its actual weight. Obesity can complicate the correct dosing, potentially leading to underdosing or overdosing, which can be ineffective or harmful.
Strain on the Heart: Excess weight already puts additional strain on the heart. Heartworms add to this strain, making it even more challenging for an obese dog’s cardiovascular system to cope.
Overall Health: A healthy weight ensures better overall health and a stronger immune system, making it easier for Alpha and Beta to fend off infections and recover from illnesses.
By addressing their obesity and working towards a leaner body condition, not only will we be better able to treat their heartworm disease, Alpha and Beta are on the path to a healthier, happier life. With dedication and care, they will enjoy more energy, improved mobility, and a reduced risk of serious health issues. Let’s cheer them on in their journey towards better health!

The audio that was missing in our last post, I. Case you were wondering 😉
Let's face it, accidents happen!
A few of the foods your dog should not consume include grapes, raisins, caffeinated drinks or coffee, macadamia nuts, the sweetner xylitol, cannabis edibles and others
3% hydrogen peroxide is useful to have on hand to induce vomiting
If your dog consumes a toxic substance always contact your veterinarian on advise on whether or not it is safe to induce vomiting, as some substances can erode the esophagus and throat on the way back up, as well as for advise on the amount to administer
You may still need to take your dog to the vet to continue decontamination of the gut with other treatments, such activated charcoal, and supportive care may be also be required

As a young male horse, or colt, approaches sexual maturity they tend to become increasingly difficult to handle, with some becoming very dangerous to their handlers and owners. They tend to fight in the herd to establish dominance and will mate with mares leading to unexpected and unwanted pregnancies
This is not a breeding farm and the client did not want anymore horses. This colt was actually attempting to mate with his own mother!
Gelding or castrating this colt is the best solution for maintaining the peace and tranquility in this herd
