I am delighted to announce an upcoming class, 'Strength in Obedience,' scheduled for June 29th. This new offering at H.B.K9's aims to provide a realistic approach to obedience training. Many clients have expressed concerns about applying obedience skills in real-world situations, particularly when faced with distractions. This class will focus on impulse control and applying obedience amidst distractions to build reliable recalls. With only two spots remaining, I may consider adding two more depending on the class size, currently limited to six participants for personalized attention. I appreciate the enthusiasm and look forward to helping dog owners achieve their training goals. Thank you, Holly Carlson.

Are you looking to build on previous obedience classes or sharpen the basics you’ve worked on at home, especially when faced with distractions? Or wanting to touch up on your C.G.C to help pass it. I will have classes this fall for the Caine Good Citizenship. This is great class help build on that also

This comprehensive course combines elements of Obedience 1, 2, and 3 to provide real-world training. You will learn to strengthen commands such as sit, down, stay, recall, and wait, stay, while improving leash control and impulse control around distractions.

Our five-week schedule includes:

- Week 1: Reviewing basic sit, down, stay, come, wait, and leash work.
- Week 2: Refining the same cues with added distractions.
- Week 3: Working outdoors (weather permitting).
- Week 4 & 5: Meeting at a park to generalize these skills in a high-distraction environment.

The goal of this class is to provide practical, "reality of life" experience. If the weather does not permit outdoor training, we will continue to focus on distraction work indoors.

As Miss Rose matures, she is discovering the importance of strengthening her backend, which will lead to stronger hips. Notably, dogs often lack awareness of their hind legs, leading to potential issues such as stiff and sore hips between the ages of 9 to 13 years old. However, conditioning the backend can mitigate this issue, much like weightlifting helps humans maintain strength with age. Additionally, Miss Rose is learning to pick up her stride, promoting healthy leg development.
