Affectionate, Loyal & Brave

I had a little accident while taking a bath: I slipped and my elbow hit the floor resulting to a slight injury. So I urgently called my wife and then these two came rushing to check me out. Normally, they go deaf whenever I call them from the 2nd floor; but this time, they just rushed-in and with their worried look. I was not done yet with my shower, so I decided to have a quick shower before applying a cold compress to my elbow; and then these two never left me since then until I was done. Indeed, bullmastiffs have a great sense of urgency in times of sensing danger with their family.

"The Estate Guardian"

Bullmastiffs are a large working breed originating in Britain in the mid-1800s as estate guardians to ward off poachers. They were bred by gamekeepers for strength, size and speed using a cross of the tough, heavy and aggressive Bulldog of the 19th century with the large, strong, less aggressive Mastiff. As a result, they are known as the "Gamekeeper's Night Dog". The Bullmastiff breed was bred to tackle and pin a poacher that comes on their land.

Origin

The Bullmastiff is mastiff type dog, and was originally developed by 19th-century gamekeepers to guard estates. The breed was created by crossing the English Mastiff with the now extinct Old English Bulldog. It was recognized as a purebred dog by the English Kennel Club in 1924

"The Gentle Giants"

Bullmastiffs are very affectionate with the family. They seek for your attention, more like of love and affection, as they as well give their love and loyalty. They are generally calm and intelligent, which mean that they are well aware of the perimeter; but its calmness can instantly switch to a natural guard dog instinct when they sense of suspicious stangers. Supervision is of course an imperative when they are around with your kids as they can inadvertently bump and knock your kids due to their size being large breed dogs.
