We are often asked, how do we choose the dogs for our therapy dog program? Therapy dogs have innate qualities that can often be detected in their puppyhood including:

🐾 A undiscriminating love for all people they meet
🐾 A calm demeanor
🐾 Not easily spooked or unsettled

Ideally, therapy dogs possess certain qualities regarding temperament, affiliativeness, biddability, and gentleness that can be shaped with obedience training.

✨ EXCLUSIVE Crate Training Tips for Puppies ✨

We know crate training a new puppy is daunting work! Here are 4 tips for successfully crate training your pup like a pro:

🐾 Should I use the crate when the puppy is misbehaving?
We suggest not using the crate as punishment. If you do, the puppy will associate the crate as a bad thing. Instead focus on making the crate a safe place where they get to nap, they get yummy treats in there or a safe place to stay.

🐾 My puppy is crying at night in the crate?
Place the puppy close to your bed with something that has a comforting, familiar scent. If it continues, place your hand next to the crate or try playing lullabies!

🐾 Do I have to crate train?
Not at all. Crates provide dogs with their own safe space, can help with potty training, and prevents destructive behavior. We suggest to at least use a crate during the night with your new family member!

🐾 Is it ok to leave my 8 week old puppy out in the house while I leave?
We suggest no, as it may increase their fear or separation anxiety. Playpens and gates can also be used to confine your puppy while you're away

Our little “Roses” met their forever families recently where they will continue to love and be loved!

🐾 Gertie - now June - joins the Veach family in TN.

🐾 MH - now Mayer - joins the Ragsdale/Matsen family in KY.

🐾 Penny Lane - now Orly Rose - joins the Fiat/Melin family in OH.

This is a truly special group and one that we hold close to our heart as we see our sweet Hattie Mae’s breeding career come to a close.

Thank you to all of our families that made this piece of our journey a little more special. We will forever be grateful for the bonds that we have created ❤️
