Where have we been???
Hullo, furriends! It is I, Kato, king of the concrete jungle and maker of biscuits. Here I am looking thoughtful and intelligent. What do you think of my fancy bowtie? I think it brings out the green in my eyes.
First, let me tell you where we've been or to be precise, where we are. We are in America! Yes, we have left Amsterdam. My heart still pines for the city and my various feathered friends, including those screechy parrots that visited every day. Don't worry, I took the Meownagers and my Meowmy with me. They said their lives would be empty without me, so I let them tag along.
We travelled on a plane! And you guessed right - the flight attendants did think I was such a good boy. Between you and me though, I'm a little offended the pilot didn't come out to greet me. Apparently she or he was busy flying the plane, pffft.
Anyway, Meowmy said to tell everyone that we have to put on ice for now while she figures out our new situation. I don't know what ice she's referring to as it is very hot in our new home! I have been taking my naps in the sun every afternoon. Of course, I have also been spending a few minutes a day brainstorming "next steps", but I do have a very petite brain so it does hurt when I think too much ...
To all my furriends and fans, I miss you! Modelling for Poes & Hound paid kibble but it is the best job I've had. Meowmy agrees that making stuff for our paw-legged friends is the best job she's ever had. The little Meownagers have no comment since they still haven't worked a day in their lives.
Know that we are all safe and well. We wish we were still in Amsterdam but sometimes, the story changes and you just have to follow your pink nose and stay pawsitive. Air kisses to everyone!!!

Fish on Friday! Another Catnip Fish goes swimming off to a clawing, kicking, growling predator ... yes, I mean a cat 😂 Our fish are stuffed with organically grown catnip and are a fun way for kitties to let off some steam as they work off their hunting instinct. Also a great source of entertainment for us hoomans 🥸

Well, hello! I'm having a very proper Friday, with my paws crossed and bowtie on. Just waiting for my pawrents to get me some tea and crumpets.
Our handsome friend Barney had a rough start to life and after multiple surgeries on a badly injured leg, he flew from Brazil to the Netherlands to join his furrever family ❤

Yes I do have a Valentine's date this weekend, and he's very, very dashing 😍
Even though we can't have our usual candlelit dinner at a fancy restaurant, Studio Supervisor Kato still made an effort to dress up. Because you can't look too posh for canned tuna and kibble!

I told myself that one of my new year resolutions should be to ditch the sweatpants and start wearing my nice going-out clothes at home. Otherwise, my wardrobe will become a museum 😐

Even though Huxley was an extremely scaredy cat, Kato and I hired him because we saw pawtential. He kept running away from previous meowdelling gigs but gave in this time because he's realized how yummy belly scratches can be 😻

Apparently, being cute is hard work. Our Studio Meownagers starting off the weekend doing what they do best. They hope you also get to enjoy your weekend like them - sleeping, being fed, watching birds, sleeping, running after random objects, knocking things off the counter, sleeping, and being told how wonderful you are.

I love Etsy and have been a customer for many years, so I'm happy to say that the store is now also on Etsy! I've been a little anxious all week as meownagers Huxley and Loki were due for their neutering procedure 😕 I'm happy to report that they are doing well and already back to jumping around and destroying everything, while still avoiding their chores. They did, however, put in a little bit of work to help make some cat-themed face masks for the staff at Dierenkliniek de Wetering who took such good care of them on surgery day 💕

I'd like to dedicate today's post to our friend Allegra who got her wings on Saturday. I've had to say goodbye to more than one pet and it never gets easier.
I met Allegra last year for a photo shoot. She was feisty and adorable, a kitty with character! I'm sure she's already taking over kitty heaven as its new queen.
Kato, Huxley, Loki and I would like to send our warmest wishes to Allegra's hoomans and to Salomon who must be missing his sister terribly. Stay strong, we're all thinking about you 💜

When I was growing up, it was very common to see batik. In fact, my grandma wore batik sarongs every day even though she had no cultural ties to any of the batik traditions. I think it was just really comfortable in the tropical climate I was in 🥵

When I got my hands on a stash of batik fabric, my first thought was to make something for myself, and the second was to make something for pets. I have yet to make something for myself but I did make dog collars! Check them out in our online store www.poesandhound.com

We celebrate World Animal Day on 4 Oct to lend a thought to animals who live in dire conditions, whose habitats are being destroyed, who are not protected from danger and abuse. We'll be donating a part of our proceeds this month to an animal-related cause.
A short 3 months ago, our new meownagers Loki and Huxley were sitting in a cage, hoping for a furever home. It's true they had it better than a lot of animals who've suffered abuse, neglect and a generally screwed-up life but still ... as I watch them growing up each day, I can't imagine these big personalities ever being confined to a life where they aren't free to zoom around, climb everything and live in safety and comfort.
Here are these kitties now with their mentor and big brother, Kato, who himself started life on the streets, begging for scraps outside a KFC in Singapore.
Did you adopt a pet that had a rough start to life? Do give them extra kisses for us! 😽 🐶 🐰 🐹 🐴

The problem with having cats for employees is that everything has to be on their schedule even though, technically, I'm the boss. Like this scene of Studio Supervisor Kato and his minion meownagers taking a mid-nap break. A what, you ask? Well so did I, and was told quite curtly that it's ergonomically unhealthy to be at the same task for hours. Therefore, the kitties decided on a break from their napping "task" before they go back to dreamland.
If only they considered their actual chores a task, too ...

Job applications are now closed! After searching high and low, we have also hired Huxley Kitten. He did throw some hissy fits during the interview, but we believe there's potential for growth. More about this young talent:

Past employment: Backup singer at kitty shelter
Job-related experience: None
Job-related skills: None
Education: Dean's List at Meowsic School
Hobbies: Sprinting, yodelling, ball games.

Huxley has always admired our Studio Supervisor Kato's work at Poes & Hound and has decided to be his executive assistant for now. We're not sure what that means since Kato is mostly asleep. I guess we'll have to find out at the quarterly review! Unmute the video to hear Huxley's melodic singing voice.

We have a new hire! For the last few months, we've been looking to expand the Poes & Hound team, and we've extended an offer to Loki Kitten. Loki has relocated from Dierentehuis Alkmaar and is a true foodie. In fact, his personal credo is "Eat all the nomnoms -- even if it's not yours". His CV reads:

Past employment: None
Job-related experience: None
Job-related skills: Being cute
Education: Enrolled in Kittengarden
Hobbies: Jumping, plant deconstruction, climbing, fine dining.

Loki has joined our meownagement trainee programme. We're not sure which role will be the best fit, but we're confident he will be an asset to our team. Welcome aboard, Loki!
