Went for a kick sled ride now that we’ve got a decent amount of snow! Bennett on the left and Raya on the right. Our dogs are #poweredbyinukshuk
I can barely get a single word out of Bennett..
And teaching him to bark is hilarious 😂
Yellow and Dark Blue joined the pack for a run today in the bush. Even though we got caught with rain and hail they loved it.
- Engagement is defined as getting our dogs to OFFER sustained focus on us because the dog wants what we have, which is their favorite toy or their favorite high-value food reward.
Hunger is a very valuable tool. Designating a time before their breakfast, lunch or dinner to have a training session is an effective way to obtain engagement, due to the drive to satisfy hunger.
The puppies are OFFERING me attention (attention is the mother of all behaviours) because I have their kibble. They offer me a behaviour and they get PAID with food. We pay with food when we observe a behaviour we like, this is effective to prevent, and correct bad behaviours from developing.
Trying to train a disengaged puppy or dog will not be productive, or get you very far. If anything, it will allow your training to go backwards.
No puppies were starved in the making of this video. All puppies have a full tummy.
New routine for the pups.. all three meals in closed crates alone.
This developments a natural positive desire to go in a crate. Every little bit helps with crate training, so all positive associations are directed to the crate. Treats, food, toys, chews, all of it. Absolutely no negative association towards the crate.
Everyone knows which puppy their bringing home!
Here’s some Friday morning entertainment for you all 💕
Feel free to comment which puppy you are bringing home!
These are some fearless puppies!
The pups made a trip to my parents place to run around and have some fun.
Their first off property trip is somewhere safe (because they are in their second fear period) , and free of potential pathogens.
I’m able to see which puppies are adaptable, and resilient to a new environment. How they react and recover. Being only a week and a bit out till they go to their new homes, this is a huge test to see how they will proceed with their home coming.
Well they aren’t afraid of water 😂🤷🏼♀️
PS. They are Raya and Wyatt puppies… so their destined to be fish 🐟
