Some photos from this past weekend's private clinic at Trails End Ranch!
It was a fun group and I got to see some former horses in training, which is always fun.
Thanks to all who came out!

Are you interested in booking a private clinic? Message Essiah's Horse Ranch for details! It is a great opportunity to get some friends together where you can learn and have some fun on your horses.

This past week I attended a five-day CHA certification clinic!
It was a fantastic experience including learning, teaching, making some wonderful new friends, and being pushed to the limit and learning how much I can actually do.
I am now a Level 1 English and Level 3 Western CHA Riding Instructor!
CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) sites and certifiers are all over the US, and this particular site is Black River Ranch in Croswell, Michigan.

Estrella!

Estrella (Eh-stray-uh) is a 5 year old TB/QH cross in for training. She is smart, willing to please, is a little sassy, and likes people more than horses!
The plan is for her to go to 4-H this year.

Goals for Estrella:
• Trail riding miles
• Desensitizing
• Trailering out
• Neck reining
• Walk, trot, canter
• Bathing

She has been ridden quite a bit ba****ck with just a halter and lead-rope. She is pretty easy-going but can be a little spooky sometimes.

Playing in the water!

I have been able to take a couple of the horses down to the river this week, including Gin (photos below).
Gin wasn't sure at first, but after she got in and walked around for a bit, she decided it was fine and played a little.

Some highlights with Gin lately:
• Getting in the river (of course!)
• Cantering
• Learning to pick up at the mounting block for an easier mount
• Exposure and desensitizing on the trail
Gin does not like logs of any kind anywhere, so it has been great for her to get out on the trails and learn to deal with them.

Another Mustang? Actually, Apollo is one that I started working with a year ago (with a few breaks since then)! I usually travel to work with him, but for the next six weeks he will be at the ranch.

Here is a little about Apollo:
He is a 5 year-old Mustang originally from Nevada. He tends to be very reactive and over-dramatic, and especially doesn't like things underneath him like tarps, plastic bags, or just a different color of dirt! Even with all of his silly quirks, I enjoy working with him.

Goals for Apollo:
• Lots of trail riding
• Speed control and stabilization
• Cantering
• Exposure and desensitizing
• and more!

Does anybody recognize these beautiful horses?

Priceless (5 y/o) and Image (4 y/o) are a couple of Morgan Horses that I have handled since they were weanlings and they are in for a two-week tune-up before they get sent off to summer camp.
They have both been ridden quite a lot, so it won't be long before they are back on the trails!

Essiah's Horse Ranch offers diverse training and offers a wide variety of services from colt-starting to finishing work and so much in between!
Note: I only offer two-week tune-ups for horses that I have already worked with previously.

This past week I attended a gaited horse clinic taught by Jenny Trainor from Montana!
I didn't get many pictures, but here are a few.
I used a clients Tennessee Walker gelding, Cash, and he was such a good boy.
I learned so much and had a ton of fun. I can't wait to put what I learned into practice a little more!

Two very different horses, both making great progress!

✨️ Left photo:
First ride on Gin from today! I am not usually able to get in the first ride until the second week of training, but since Gin has already had a good amount of groundwork done it has really helped being able to ride sooner than usual. She did great and everything went uneventful!

✨️ Right photo:
Willow is turning into such a nice little horse! Lots of trailriding, obstacle crossing, and more concentrated work like softening her body has been taking place. I have been pleasantly surprised with how well she has handled all the things I have been throwing at her this week.

A new project! ✨️

This is Gin. She is a coming 4 year old Friesian/Thoroughbred/Warmblood and one hunk of a horse! She is in for groundwork and starting under saddle and will be here for 60 days.
Gin has already had a lot of groundwork done, as well as saddling, and it shows! Her first training session was today, which was super easy and I was able to move her pretty quickly through most of the basic groundwork exercises that I start with, and I don't think it will be too long before I'm able to saddle her.

I'm looking forward to working with Gin over the next couple of months and seeing what a nice horse she will become!

This sweet Mustang went back home earlier this week. Aspen was such a fun project!

I'm always surprised how fast 30 days goes by! Even in that short amount of time a horse can make so much progress and I love reflecting on where they started versus where they are now.

Keep an eye out for my next string of training horses coming soon!
