Back to Dumb Friends League to get neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and adopted! The only part that makes it easier is knowing they have a home lined up. I wait every day for the “adopted” email that usually comes in around 9pm—that also means they were picked up and cozy in their new home.

Oh Georgie, you have been through so much and it was such a joy to watch you grow and thrive. Soon we’ll be fostering a sibling for you so you don’t drive your new parents mad.

Georgie is 2.1 lbs and will stay at to get neutered and then adopted by someone we know!!! I’m going to miss him so much but it’s time for him to be with his forever family.

We’ve had a lot going on around The Academy and haven’t been able to post much. We moved into our very own place that we actually own! We’ve had love and loss. Lots of tears too. Despite everything, we still love to show off our babies.
Meet George! Georgie is a 5 week old kitten who has a big personality and loves to play!

Welcome to the Academy, Bobtail Brothers! We love you so much already! 😻

Picked up these little babies Friday evening. They are great at eating and sleeping. They prefer foster mama over friends right now. They are approximately 10 days old. 🐾💜

And they already have a hold! If you are wanting a kitten (or two! They do best in pairs.) fear not! The shelter has been inundated with kittens! 20+ bottle babies have been dropped off in the last two days at one shelter! 😮

Just in time for National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day:

As if we don’t have a houseful, here’s our newest foster through Underdogs Animal Rescue. Formerly known as Mimi, now Miss Mimosa! We just can’t say no to an underdog in need. She has a few issues to work through (hence her transfer to me from previous foster) but overall she’s a sweetie.

Mimosa was abandoned in a parking lot after her owner became ill and a family member didn’t want to deal with her anymore. She has anxiety from her trauma and I think from possibly being forcibly removed from her owner’s side when they were found.

All little Mimosa wants in life is a lap to sit on, a place to sleep beside you, and all the love and walks you can possibly muster! She won’t be available for adoption immediately but please feel free to share and follow her journey here!!

If you see your vet med friends posting NOMV it is because veterinary medicine has the highest su***de rate of any profession. It is likely because we have lost a friend or colleague. It is likely because our entire field mourns together those we did and did not know.

As someone who suffers from mental health issues/mental illness, who understands the depths of the darkness, and the call of the void—I want you to know that I am here for you, I love you, and you are so desperately wanted here. Please stay.

Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies is joining Colorado Pet Pantry for a pet supply drive!

Keep pets home and out of shelters!

Collecting items from 3/1-3/31. They accept prescription food (in high demand), opened food that is taped down, and expired food up to a year past expiration date.

Covid has hit families hard and pet food can be hard to come by.

Please consider donating!

Items Needed (in order of priority):
1 Dry dog food
2 Dry cat food
3 Canned dog food
4 Cat litter
5 Canned cat food
6 Toys, Leashes, Collars, and Accessories (does not need to be new)

We have a drop off in our main entry-no contact required!! Drop off can be any time 24/7 we never close our doors🐱❤️
