When you have people over to your home, do you have to put your dogs away? Do they get overly excited and "out of control"?
This is a normal behavior for a dog. They are excited to meet new people but it is hard to correct in the moment. So a lot of people will either put their dogs outside or in a different room rather then addressing the behavior.

Introducing dogs to kids can sometimes feel stressful.

Whether you're adding a new baby to the household or a new dog to a family with kids we want to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable. Here are a few tricks for new introductions.

Tips for introducing a new baby to your dog/dogs:
- Take a blanket or item of clothes for your pets to smell before they meet the baby, let them get used to that new smell
- Enter your home and greet your pets before you introduce the baby, let them smell you, and calm down before you bring the baby in. They may be VERY excited especially if you had a longer hospital stay.
- Keep your dog on their leash and let them look and smell from distance at first.
- When they are comfortable and quiet, allow them to approach slowly and gradually on their own time.

Even the gentlest/ calmest of dogs may be unsettled by a new baby, allow them time to adjust to the newest member of their family!

Tips for introducing children to a new dog:
- Teach children how to touch and pet animals gently
- Allow the dog to come to the children VS the children rushing up to the dog
- Only allow children around if they are calm
- Keep the dog on a leash
- Avoid using treats or toys at the first meeting
- Allow the dog to sniff kids before they pet
- Never leave a child unattended with any pets

I'm thrilled to extend my warmest congratulations to Tigger and owners Patty & Roger from Mount Juliet on completing the 10 session In Home Program. It's been truly inspiring to witness the growth in confidence of both Tigger & owners. For our final session we decided to take a field trip to Long Hunter State park and she completed all the requirements. Congratulations once again!!!!!!!

Congratulations to Tokyo & owner Rick from Watertown for completing the In Home Program this morning!!! Tokyo is such a good pup and really did a fantastic job on his final evaluation. He did wish that his owner would have done the training in the fall or winter!! Congrats once again.

Congratulations to the group class participants. They just completed the 6 week group class. As you can see we train dogs of all sizes!!!! Next group class will begin on Aug 16th. If interested please give us a call at 615-745-1899

The next group obedience class will take place from Saturday August 16th through September 20th at 8am.
Our group obedience classes are a great way to meet other dog owners who are going through the same difficulties as you. During this six session class, you and your dog will learn the following skills and develop a fur-ever bond.

Sit Stay
Down Stay
Stand Stay
Recall (come on command)
