In 2018 I complete my BTEC level 3 national extended diploma in animal management with science with the triple grade of distinction at merrist wood college. I have been a volunteer and foster for a local rescue since 2018 and have experience with dogs and puppies of all backgrounds including those who have extreme anxiety. August 2018 to April 2021 I worked for a local dog walking company where i

built my experience working with dogs of mixture of temperaments and breeds. Im also part of an online academy where I continue to expand my knowledge of all things dogs such as dog psychology, body language and methods of training.

Had to pause for a moment and listen to the lovely birds singing who are clearly happy for the warmer weather, as am I.

Meet the small but almighty Bailey, she’s had quite a crazy story so far in her short life. Her owners adopted her just under a month ago and had enrolled her into puppy classes as they were told she was 9months old.

However when her new family took her to the vets they were told she was in-fact 18 months old. She was a feisty little terrier out on walks especially passing other dogs as you can see in the first two videos.

We jumped straight into training building Baileys foundations of training and making communities between handler and dog much clearer. We also spoke about how to meet Baileys genetic needs too.

Just a few sessions in and Bailey is making lovely progress.

Happy monday everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend. Dave my current foster dog went out on some adventures this weekend.

Don’t be fooled by this video we didn’t just turn up and expect long down stays and perfect behaviour from Dave .

While Dave’s been in my care we’ve worked hard building his confidence in new environments and started the building blocks of his engagement work.

Hard work does pay off so keep working towards yours and your dogs goals.

The boys were full of beans today but they completed some lovely down-stays too. We’ve been working on proofing their down-stays which means that no matter what the boys remain in their downs until given the release word. Days like today make me realise how far these boys have come. I talk to my clients about the importance of filming their sessions so that they can see their progress. when you live with your dog it can be hard to remember how far you’ve come in your training journey . I finished this session today and couldn’t help but smile at how well the boys did. Starting off on the right foot: At the start of all my walks/sessions it’s important to make sure all the dogs are in the right mindset to listen/ ready to train. I’ve worked with all these dogs in various groups or on a 1-1 basis and know them really well. They’d never all met together before but I was confident that this combination would make a great group. With everyone ready to go and long lines on we did a nice wait before they were released.
