A couple of nights ago at approximately 9 pm.

I Had a call out to a property in manor lakes, just before I arrived the tiger snake had climbed to the top of these trees. Tiger snakes are excellent climbers which can sometimes make it difficult to find and catch them, especially in the dark.
None the less with the help of the property owner shinning the torch, I was able to safely navigate my way through the shrubs to catch and relocate the healthy tiger snake.

A warm night means snakes are still very active❗️

I Have attended a couple of property’s this evening and on each occasion a dog has alerted their owner of a snake in the backyard. If you hear your dog barking unusually make sure you check it out, it could very well be a snake as right now is the perfect weather for them to be active.

Wyndham city council offer a free service and there are catchers in each suburb ready to attend calls for a snake removal.

9742 0777 Save the number just in case you see a snake.

I tried to sneak up on Drogon to see how close I could get without him noticing me. I didn’t really get close at all before he retreated to the bottom of the body of water.
I have learnt a lot about the salt water crocodiles behaviour recently.

I have travelled through croc infested waters in Darwin looking for crocodiles and never seen one on most occasions.
I now know they had seen me long before I was even close to their whereabouts.

These dinosaurs are the ultimate predators of planet earth. The masters of stealth and survival.

🚨 TIGER SNAKE IN PICNIC BAG 🚨

*video sent in!

A group of people went out for a picnic when an unusual intruder had made shelter into their Coles shopping bag.

They had been carrying this bag through the gardens of the Werribee Mansion and picking out strawberries and lollies without even realising a 2 foot tiger snake was buried amongst their picnic treats.

It was only when someone went to look into the bag to see what snack to choose from, when they noticed a scaled, slithering serpent *see video*.

Everyone involved was extremely lucky not to be bitten by the tiger snake. (5th most venomous in the world)

NOTE: This is a reminder that we live in snake territory. Snakes have been around for 100 million years and will probably be around long after us humans are gone.

Be extremely vigilant of your surroundings especially in warmer weather.

🚨 EASTERN BROWN & TIGER SNAKE CAUGHT AT THE SAME PROPERTY IN CAROLINE SPRINGS!

Got a call out this morning for a snake in a backyard in Caroline springs. As I approached the area where the snake was he went straight into a hole then under a shed.
After an hour of trying to flood him out with water he poked his head out then was looking for an exit out the backyard so I was able to grab the 1.6 meter eastern brown snake.

On my way home I messaged the resident to send me a photo of the snake he had seen the day before to make sure it was the one I had caught because we thought it was a tiger snake that was originally seen.

He messaged me back and said a different snake just came out from under the shed.
A quick U turn and I was able to sneak up on a 1.2 meter tiger snake.

I haven’t heard of a brown and a tiger sharing real estate before as these creatures are very territorial. But we were lucky to get the 2 for 1 spesh.

🚨 Eastern brown snake caught today in Wyndham vale. 🚨

Had a call out to Tarneit for another eastern brown, but was unable to locate him due to knee high weeds and grass.
Everyone please keep your grass and weeds trimmed and yards well maintained, this only attracts snakes and makes for great hiding spots for them.

🚨 SNAKES ARE OUT!! 🚨

It’s 28 degrees already and we have had 2 tiger snakes.

1 in Wyndham vale, I had to jump 4 fences into neighbouring properties to track him down. Ripped up a couple of rocks and caught him.
The residents insisting they will be moving to New Zealand as soon as lockdowns are over. 😂

Another 1 in Tarneit curled up under a pressure washer.
Tiger snakes are good climbers and can curl up to just about anything.

Everybody please stay vigilant especially in this warmer weather. Contact your local snake catcher or council to have a snake removed immediately.

Unfortunately under the new laws I can’t post photos or videos of the snakes I catch. There is a petition going around that you can all sign to change those laws. I will post it this weekend stay tuned and stay safe.

HEADING INTO WARMER WEATHER, PLEASE CONSIDER...

*photo 1 sent in for identification*

Both photos displayed are the “eastern blue-tongued lizard”. (Tiliqua scincoides)

This lizard commonly found in backyards is non-venomous and poses no threat to humans what so ever.

They are often mistaken at first glance for the “Tiger snake” (notechis scutatus).

They both have similar patterns and appearance which can sometimes make it difficult to tell the 2 apart, especially if you see only a portion of the reptile.

I have attended a few properties this week for “a huge snake” which was in fact a blue tongue lizard.

We can still remove them, but I always ask residents who don’t have dogs if they don’t mind me leaving the bluey where he is. They are great in gardens for controlling pests and bugs.

Tiger snakes on the other hand, will always be removed from the property and relocated to a more suitable area. (for the safety of the residents, the snake and any pets living there.

If you do see a snake on your property, give the snake plenty of room to move away from you.

Remove any children or pets from the area.

Contact your local council (as most councils provide a free snake removal) and keep an eye on the snake from a distance until a snake catcher arrives.

Wyndham City Council provide a free snake relocating service, if you see a snake on your property, contact your local council immediately. A professional snake catcher will attend and remove the snake from your property. Do not try and catch the snake yourself, as this is how the majority of snake bites occur in Australia.
