Happy 1st birthday to Mango Mama’s pups! I’ve gotten a couple of updates and the boys seem to have gotten pretty large. One of the adopters is interested in having a little reunion. If you’re interested, please comment here and she can fill you in on any plans.

I got a lovely update today from Maggie’s family. She is doing great. This devoted mama has the life she always deserved!

We are all so in love with her, and she has formed such a special bond with each of us. She has become more vocal and barks at strangers and other dogs in the neighborhood when we take her on walks. I guess she loves us enough to want to protect us. 😉

Maggie is a favorite among the neighborhood kids and is super sweet with them.

She still loves walks, jogs, chasing bunnies, and endless belly rubs. She also loves to relax on our back patio.

We know she is feeling right at home, consistently showing her playful side and even trying out some of her toys.

We were able to have her spayed at the end of the May, and she recovered nicely. She definitely was not a fan of the cone so we purchased a onesie for her while she recovered. Check out the picture!

Now that things are starting to slowly open up, we plan on enrolling her in a training class. We know that she will be a rockstar. ❤️

Covi (formerly Jack Fruit) is doing great and growing quickly. His family got a DNA test done with some surprising results - 40% Boxer. That’s not a breed I would have guessed.

Pomegranate is now called Luna and she had a fun afternoon of playtime and dinner before a well deserved nap from her busy day. She was the most different of the litter with her longer, fluffy coat, which is most likely border collie. She’ll have lots of land to run and play on, trying to herd things to her hearts content!

Papaya is now called Arthur and he’s making himself right at home with his new family. He still likes to give the business to puppy pads, just like they all did when they were here.

Mango Mama, now Maggie was first to go and she is settling in very well with her family. Maggie loves getting petted and belly rubs so something tells me this is the perfect fit for her. She’s looking very cozy. Happy life, beautiful Maggie❤️

Maggie and all the pups have been picked up. The weather did not help one bit but I set up a canopy and brought each pup out as the car pulled up. It did not dampen the excitement of all the families meeting their new pup for the first time since they all were adopted from photos and videos. Everyone showed up at their scheduled time so it went very smoothly. Between the social distancing and pouring rain, I didn’t get to take the usual new family photos or find out names but the most important part is that they all have good homes. Ive gotten lots of updates today and I’ll share those. I’ve gotten a couple already.

Tomorrow is the big day for Maggie and the pups. All of the pickups are scheduled. The social distancing hand offs will be complicated by a rainy day but there is always a solution for everything.

In the past few days it seems like Maggie has started feeling pretty good. Her nursing belly has shrunk considerably and she’s become playful with my dog Gracie who she pretended to not even see when they first met. I’m grateful that whatever her previous situation that found her pregnant in a kill shelter, this sweet, loving and very deserving dog got a second chance with a family that is so excited to welcome her. ❤️

I think the weariness from all the weeks of devoted puppy rearing is finally behind Maggie and her personality is starting to emerge. She’s even had a few playful moments outside. She is the sweetest companion and so happy just to be next to me and get some ear rubs. She does not like thunder and lightning just like a couple of mine. She shook a little bit today during that storm but settled down after some reassurance. Her life will be changing so much for the better in a few days and she has no idea. ❤️

The puppy room gets daily mopping and cleaning but Saturday is the big clean when everything comes out of the room. It’s likely the last time I’ll have to do this chore since the pups are 8 weeks old next weekend. After I put the pups back in today, I let Mango (Maggie) in the room and they went berserk. They haven’t had access to her as a group since last Sunday but old habits die hard. I shot some video of Papaya this week and Mango came downstairs. He tried to nurse and she let him know the store was closed. Six of the seven pups have been adopted and Dragon Fruit, the last pup, has a possible adopter.

The pups and mama are having their six week vet visit this morning. Like many vet offices, the great folks at Horsham vet are working through all this and meeting their patients outside and bringing them in for their appointments while the owners/fosters wait in their cars. The pups are getting so big and are such a sweet bunch.

It’s also a good time to share some wonderful news - Mango has already been adopted by a wonderful family and will be going to her forever home when the pups are eight weeks old, around 4/26. Her new name will be Maggie which I’ve already started calling her. It also seems that the pandemic has generated a higher than average number of adoption applications so it’s very likely all pups will be going on the 26th as well.

The pups are doing great and have really taken to eating the blended puppy food. They’re having three meals a day and I’m trying to only give them access to Mango after they’ve eaten. They are not having it and cry in unison until I can’t take it anymore and give in, but we’ll get there. Mango likes to spend most of her time out of the puppy room.

There are two featured pups since I missed yesterday. First- Kiwi (female). Kiwi is the smallest pup and one of the best eaters. She seems to like to snuggle already.

Mango has been hanging around with my gang today and all going outside together as a group. She’s sort of pretending they’re not there but showing absolutely no aggression. Gracie has needed several sharp reminders about social distancing.

A little more doggie intro for Mango with my Gracie. She mostly just seems to want to pretend Gracie isn’t there, but shows absolutely no aggression. She may also know the stay command unless it was just a fluke.

Today's featured pup - Pomegranate (female). She is definitely the leader of the pack. She is quite a bit fluffier than the other pups and looks a good bit like a border collie.

The pups have some new digs. We switched from whelping box to a pen so Mango can eat in peace and the pups will have limited access to her as we start weaning. Mango seems thrilled, the pups not so much.

Mango is such a patient mama. I’m pretty sure these little vampires are just biting her at this point but she keeps going back into the trenches.

Mango’s pups just had their first meal and they needed no prodding to get started. The minute I put the bowl down, they all understood it was food and went to town emptying it as quickly as possible.

I started very slow intros this week with Mango and my dogs. At bed time they all got treats together, my pups in the bedroom and Mango in the doorway. Each night she’d walk a little further into the room for a treat. Today she came all the way in so I lifted her up on the bed for a couple of minutes. It all went very smoothly, as I was expecting with her sweet disposition.
