From dumped in Texas shelters, to rescued by Humane Tomorrow, transported to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue and adopted by loving families The Love on Wheels program’s mission is to reduce euthanasia of dogs in DFW area shelters by transporting them to areas where demand for adoptable dogs cannot currently be met. We call that Utopia…they call it DeWitt, NY. While there are lots of communities across t

he country who have done a great job of reducing their euthanasia rates, we selected Helping Hounds Dog Rescue to be our partner. They share our philosophy of matching dogs to the most appropriate homes and care for them like family during their stay there. We are truly fortunate to have found our rescue “soulmate” in this wonderful organization and grateful to them for helping us save so many dogs. HSFM and our partner organizations are in constant contact with north Texas shelters, particularly those in rural areas that have little space and get little foot traffic for adoptions. They are full ALL the time, and workers constantly struggle to find homes for great dogs who simply aren’t being seen. As soon as we have foster space available, we take in these dogs, get them all necessary veterinary care, and move them into an available foster home. Foster homes get to know the dogs, so they can tell us as much about them as possible when they head to New York to find permanent homes. They care for them for a few short weeks, and then send them on their way with a big hug and a few tears. It’s hard to say goodbye sometimes…but fosters know they are sending them to a better life, and that they can now go out and save another one. We call that ! 😲We have sent over 2500 pups to New York. That’s 2,500 dogs who didn’t perish in as shelter. 2,500 spaces opened up to give the dogs still there more time to find homes. 2,500 times that a shelter worker didn’t have to make a heart wrenching decision. 2,500 happy families in New York. Last week, Humane Tomorrow saved 7 of the sweetest lab mix puppies from area shelters. Unfortunately over the weekend 3 of the pups began to show signs of Parvovirus. Parvovirus is highly contagious and can spread through a litter very quickly. The virus is aggressive and very expensive to treat.

We need your help to provide treatment for these cute pups and ensure they receive the best treatment possible. If you cannot donate, please share this post to help us reach a wider audience.

Where the big dog lovers at??

This lovely lady is Roscki. She is a calm, loving gal from Kurth Memorial shelter in Lufkin. We don’t know what her story is or how she ended up there, but what we do know is that she was happy to get out. Sadly, Roscki’s teeth were in such awful condition it makes us wonder what her life was like before the shelter.

Her lower canine teeth are worn down on the sides and sharp, and the rest of her teeth are barely there. While we won’t guess what caused such damage, what matters is that Rosckis teeth are causing her great deal of pain and she needs to have root canals done to preserve what few teeth she has. The oral surgeon felt her pain was so bad that they squeezed her in for an appointment next week.

As many of us know, dental work is not cheap and the same is true for dogs. Can you help us help Roscki so she can live pain-free and find the loving home she deserves?

🌟#givingtuesday feature Pup | Georgia - Parvo Pup🌟 🍯This sweet puppy came to us from a rural shelter on Nov 21st. Ready to have a fresh start to her new life, she went home with her foster mommy. 👉To make a lifesaving donation and help Georgia get to living her best life | https://www.facebook.com/donate/323981339053684/ 😥Sadly the very next morning, we received word from her foster mommy that Georgia was lethargic, was vomiting and had diarrhea. We take symptoms like these serious especially for a 3 months old puppy. We sent her to the ER straight away where she got a diagnosed of Parvo. 🏥The ER was working diligently to help get her better. The first day Georgia did not want to eat, and was still vomiting. Slowly, her appetite came back, and she is no longer vomiting, has no fever or diarrhea. 🏥She is now home, on her road to recovery. 💜Mercy Fund Monday 🐕Meet Navy SAFE after being dumped

🐕Navy was saved by Mansfield Animal Shelter after being found on the side of the road and rescued by Humane Tomorrow. 😢The vet believes he's probably been in a crate his entire life and obviously didn't get any decent food. 👉help us help Navy - Donate via https://humanetomorrow.org/help/ .🙏 😢Due to malnutrition, he's very skinny, his joints haven't developed properly and he has some skin issues that make him very itchy. 👀He also has entropion, which is an eye condition in which an eyelid is turned inward and the eyelashes rub against the eyeball, causing discomfort. 😃His joints should resolve with good nutrition as should his skin. We won't know if he needs eye surgery until he's older. 🚧He's got a long road ahead and we'll keep everyone posted on his progress. **He's not available for adoption.** Navy will eventually make his way to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue once he is feeling better. 💜Our Mercy Fund Is used to help animals like Navy with their medical needs. We're able to help this sweet boy through the generosity of our supporters. Although our transports are on hold to ensure we are not contributing to the spread of COVID-19, Humane Tomorrow's Love on Wheels program continues to take dogs in need from north and east Texas shelters so that we'll be ready when the industry experts say it's time to start back up again. Help us be ready! Each dog rescued costs an average of $250 to get medically ready to transport...funds that are not recouped through adoption fees. That means every dog we send to NY needs $250 in donations to be able to start their journey to a new life. We hope to start up transports again in June if best practices dictate that it's safe. But with donations slowing down, the number we can send may be limited without your help!
