2.5 year old GSD available! Very playful, needs LOTS of exercise, room to play, and a patient family while he learns how to be a dog again. Sweet Deku was a neglect case. He was so malnourished he was taken from his owner. After a couple months in the shelter, he gained a lot of weight but has a lot left to go. He’s as sweet as they come!

Fort Worth Animal Care and Control has seen an influx of intakes within the past few weeks and needs immediate help! As of this morning, we have 801 animals in our care at both shelter locations. The kennels are filling up VERY quickly and we soon won't have any open for incoming animals. Here are ways our community can help:

Adopt: If you are looking to adopt, you can visit any of our locations (no appointment necessary) to complete your adoption process on-site. You can view adoptable animals at www.fortworthtexas.gov/animals

Lost/Found Pets: Lost and stray animals can be viewed on our website. If you are missing an animal, please come to our shelters to walk through the facility.

Foster: We need temporary fosters to open up their homes for an animal in need. You can fill out our foster form at www.fortworthtexas.gov/animals/volunteer

Volunteer: With additional animals, we need additional hands to help! You can get started as a volunteer with the form at www.fortworthtexas.gov/animals/volunteer

Stunning bicolor German Shepherd Dog named Blackie. He entered the shelter on 6/3/21, is only estimated 2 year old and currently weighs 71lbs.

PLEASE SHARE this handsome boy with your German Shepherd rescue contacts or German Shepherd-loving friends.

While he is not specifically urgent, the quicker he can get out of the shelter, the better - so resources can be focused on other dogs.

Blackie can leave to 501c3 rescue immediately. He is also available to adopt. He can also go to a foster home in the Central Texas area. Please contact the shelter for more details.

To sweet baby Thor (now sweet baby Shi) we love you, we already miss you, and we are more proud of you than I ever thought possible. Your resilience and willingness to love again brought me to tears. Everyday you were a different dog, more curious, and more open. We are so happy for your new family and the life of love you will have. When we got you, you were scared and confused about us petting you. This morning you woke up and walked over to us (WAGGING YOUR TAIL for the first time) and gave me a KISS for the first time! You wanted us to love on you! We can’t wait for updates!♥️♥️♥️ Again thank you to everyone who donated to his medical bills and thank you to those who shared his story so we could find him a forever home♥️ We love you baby boy!

This dog was picked up from the 600 Blk of E Mesquite in Kingsville, South TEXAS. He looks to have an old injury to his hind leg. He was networked and has been available since 1/7 but not reclaimed, & no interest at all. As small shelters fill up dogs face possibility of euthanasia. Kurt needs a plan, NOW.

Nurturing them to strong, healthy puppies... to be sold off ready for the next money making litter. All on a dirt patch in a backyard, tied to a tree. Breeder was stuck with some of Princess’s last litter for for too long. Making money off the back of an innocent dog hasn’t been lucrative this year so Princess was hauled to the shelter to see how lucky she would be at finding a new home in time.”

Lexi found her forever home!! A very sweet family in our neighborhood was so excited to meet her! She will be their only family dog and get all the snuggles of their two young kids💗 We are so happy for this little blessing!! She was seriously so precious. There were many adorable gsds (and all kinds of pups) at the shelter we traveled to today. Adoptions are so special!

This is the boy who ignited our fire to create a safe, happy home for all animals. Kai was adopted at 4 months old. He had a broken tail, scabs all over his body, he would flinch and scream when we would touch him or pick him up. He did not know to be a puppy. We thought we might start to see his personality in about 3 weeks. In about 3 months he was starting to show his personality. But it truly took about 6 months before we met our true baby Kai. He attached himself at the hip to our youngest German Shepherd and they became inseparable. Now he loves everything about life. He’s so loving, curious, energetic, and fun! He loves to run and play. Seeing him grow into the puppy he is has been the biggest blessing. We want to give animals this opportunity to find bliss like our Kai has. We are so excited to see other animals grow to love life and experience their transformations in a nurturing, loving, and comforting environment! Here’s to our inspiration, Kai River Stewart♥️
