Yesterday evening, after bringing the herd in ahead of PM feeding. Ms Flicka seemed very needy. Leading to one of the sweetest interactions with her.
In my usual routine after taking her halter off I always rub her face, down her nose where her old halter sat, her big jaws, under her chin and down the front of her neck. In doing so last night she placed her head over my shoulder and drew me tightly to her. Reciprocating with arms wrapped around her neck I hugged her back. She lingered there until I released my arms. She then placed her muzzle in my hand and rested it there for a few moments. I believe she was trying to tell me something. I listened to her breathing, as I know she, its said, does have issues. No wheezing was detected...regardless of the "WHY" and knowing nothing was seriously amiss. It was one of the sweetest moments that she and I shared. These are the kind of moments that make this endeavor so rewarding. I do what I do for the love of these majestic creations. They are so grateful for everything. This, they show, during times like these. I love her. It warms my heart to know that I have, and can continue to help her.
However, I almost think she has a tooth bothering her on her left side. It seemed that she wanted me to rub that side just below her eye.
She has become quite affectionate during the last couple of weeks with me.
It is my belief that with some training this lil mare will make a good riding partner. She will need someone that she can trust, tho,as I believe she is almost blind.
She is sweet, and coming along nicely with her weight gain.
Keep us in your prayers as we continue our fight for Flicka.
