Good morning everyone, I'm currently heading back home in indiana after an overnight transport down to Missouri with 4 pigs. They had their butcher date scheduled but I got ahold of the word and told them I'd drive them whenever if they had a home located. So we made it happen 💗
In the picture is hamlet, he was a transport I did in the end of June. He was super overweight, my partner and I had to actually lift him with a sheet and gurney him up into my van. He ended up getting so upset he was jumping at my windows and chipped my tint in my van. 😬 but after a few months of being at his forever home he's lost weight and is becoming more friendly. Sometimes all they need is love, patience and a second chance. I'm so thankful to be apart of these rehabilitation moments to get them home.
As many if you know, I'm currently pregnant with our number 4, I've done now 19 pigs in my 20 weeks of pregnancy so far. I can't wait to tell our baby that this is what I did during my pregnancy 😅 my one year anniversary is coming up in November, and I didn't know just how many pigs needed taxis to their homes. I have learned so much during this past year. I really didn't think I'd be traveling across the country for pigs. When I get home and am well rested I'm going to try to get a number of how many pigs I've transported in my van in a year.
I do this all on my own, and I feel sometimes people forget that, but I'm not a NFP, I'm not with anyone, it's just me and my van (that is also my car to take my kids anywhere) so I don't have other people to be relying on, or to always guarantee help with load in or driving, or do my scheduling and route.
So for the month of November I'll be taking a little break, driving all night while pregnant is hard, mentally and physically. It's stressful trying to find people that know how to load pigs (besides my partner and best friend whose also pregnant) and I'm sure my car will appreciate less wear and tare driving all the time.
Thank you all for supporting this journey, and I'm definitely going to enjoy a little break, but will definitely miss the pigs (not so much the mess they add to my car though) 🤣
