He's home! I still haven't found the right name, but hopefully I'lI see a bit of his personality tomorrow. He's not as spooky as Fernie and Cruiser was. He let me pet him a few times, but definitely isn't fond of it! This dude is a bit of a chunky fella, but still needs to gain weight and build up muscle. He's gonna be a nice bud once he's all finished up!

Lovely English saddle I have no use for cuz my horse has grown fatter. But it’s still in good condition no torn parts.

Flashy looks for sure! Riptide got himself tangled up in the vines...again. Cru and I rescued him though, hoping this will be his last weekend here! I'll know *hopefully* for sure by Monday. have a woman highly interested in him and am PRAYING he ends up going to her. She's experienced and seems like a good forever home for my boy. For now, enjoy pictures of my sorrel

Ariel did so well today for her farrier appointment. She stood perfectly and didn't bat an eye at our farrier or throughout the process. After she was finished, she stood patiently for an hour until he was done with the rest of the horses, and rode her ba****ck to the road to lock our gate. She's just perfect.

Welcome to the two newest additions to our herd! These two will be available to the right home after training.
The gelding, black and white paint, is sixteen
and I'm very excited to work with him! He's
around 15-15.1hh tall and doesn't know anything. His name is Oreo and he will be put
in training as a kids/husband horse.
The mare, Sugar, is a registered AQHA
'Freckles Sugarfoot'. She's 13.3-14hh and she'll be put through training as a kid's barrel horse/riding horse. She has phenomenal cutting lines and I cannot wait to start her training. She's sixteen as well and hasn't been undersaddle in for years!

Ripper is finding refuge from the rain with my mare, Lilly a new mare brought to us by her owners to be broken. He is much like her in never wanting to get soaked. He was super sweet when came up to visit him. Such an angel

Well, oddly enough Cruser has become a puppy dog lately. He's been following me around, coming up to me in the pasture, he's just been lovable. I'm excited to see where we go this summer together once the sun returns and the ground isn't frozen. Can y'all believe it's almost been a year since I first got this boy?

Smokey did wonderful yesterday on our ride! She was a little skeptical about going through puddles while trotting/loping, but she did eventually gain enough confidence that she did so without any problems! We rode in the front this time (she's never ridden in the front). I also rode her in a bosal (her second time) and she was perfect. She's definitely more of a bit horse. We walked up and down hills, through some water, all around the back and front pasture, etc.. My daughter and I rode side by side with the dogs and hung out by the road.

Something remarkable happened today. My dad walked in the pasture, Crusade gently walked up to him, and let MY DAD PET HIM!! Not just a tiny pat, but rub his face, neck, and shoulder!!! That's the equivalent of winning the million dollar lottery for Crusade. It was so beautiful to watch. Didn't get a photo or video- some moments are too innocent and pure that not even a camera is allowed to capture it. With that being said, Crusade also followed me around like some lovesick dog scouring for treats. He's such a clingy gelding when he wants to be.

Mischief had her first bit ride, first pasture ride, and first ride with the dogs. She did really well and only spooked once. She wanted to trot in the beginning, but after she settled down, I trotted and loped her a couple laps...she was dog tired after that. Lovin' this mare

Everyone welcome the newest client horse, Mischief! She's a small mare with BEAUTIFUL movement. She's been out in a pasture for years and was just weaned off a foal. Her past owners got tired of her and we're going to kill her, so her current owner took her in. Mischief had a leather halter with metal plates grown into her skin due to it never being taken off since she was little. That was three months ago and her owner has done a wonderful job of taking care of this little mare!
She's the sweetest thing I've ever met, she has phenomenal movement, and I love her small little self. She had been Cowboy lunged
(lunging a horse while hitting them with a rope
continuously) with her past owners, so lunging
will be interesting to teach. She also refuses to
go into barns, so we will be working on that.

girl. They told me she was an Appaloosa, but
she actually looks more like a flea bitten gray-
for those that will be confused to her color.
She's here for a month (possibly longer), so
look forward to working with her!

Everyone meet Crusade. He's a 2012, APHA, registered, gray tobiano, gelding. He stands 14.3hh and we just picked him up from the kill pen today. He's our first kill pen horse to come from another kill pen other than Kaufman's- he came from Lone Star's and I much rather have horses go to Kaufman than the other. He wasn't too skittish and only had one bad spook when we were unloading him. Overall he's still antsy with touching, but he'll be just fine before too long. He spent most of his time pacing the fence, but took a break once to let me come up and pet him. He's got a nice few cuts on his left hock and is quite skinny. I can't wait to get this guy all cleaned up as he's covered in mud. I'm happy to start this journey with him. I've always loved the name Crusade ever since 2017. It means "a holy war with thousands of years of bad history." thought it would be perfect as he's eight and has obviously been neglected and not broken-in. I'm very pleased with this dude and his training starts tomorrow!

Round pen is up! I'm planning on working Ariel in it today a bit, then I'm loading Chance to go to my best friend's house to ride. Sandy's never been around more than one mare since he was a yearling so this will be interesting! They also have a mini that I'm dying to take a picture of with Chance next to him!! I really want Chance to meet Lady, their 33 year old horse that used to also be a racehorse.

Round pen is going up tomorrow, After the pen is up, all that's left will be getting the trough from my grandmother to our house, after that I'm going shopping for some more halter and lead. want to start every horse get in a rope halter, learn their movability, their sensitivity, their limitations. As soon as they are deemed safe and well behaved on the ground, they'll be switched to a normal halter! My daughter is soooo excited to start this, it's a dream she’s had forever!!

Everyone meet, Smokey, my second client horse. She's an older mare near age 17. She hasn't been touched in 10 years, but she used to be a cattle horse. She's a buckskin dun, very out of shape, extremely thick coated, and quite the spicy mare. She's already kicked and took a while before she stood still to take these photos. She came from the same people Ariel did. She's an AQHA, in heat, very flirty, and the typical wild mare buckskin. I'm excited to start working with this girl tomorrow! worked her today and put her in our quarantine pen where she'll stay for 10 days. She was also wormed and did better than expected. Welcome to boot camp, Smokey.

Meet our second oldest killpen rescue on the herd! She's a 10 year old, APHA, bay tobiano, mare. It's been nearly a decade since she's been in a saddle and it shows. She is a wide gal with a flashy coat. She's shown so much personality and facial expressions in such a short afternoon. Her folks hadn't ever named her, so picked out Ariel.

Everyone meet "Kings Hot Skip" my newest kill pen project. He's a beautiful, athletic, nice sorrel. I'm so excited to meet him tomorrow! Special thanks to Chance for his sale money to buy this dude! We're picking him up in the morning. My daughter will mainly be doing the broking and training of this one.

Everyone welcome the next killpen horse, SS Pepper Patch. SS Pepper Patch, is an APHA registered gray gelding. He stands 14.3hh and based on their description of him he's definitely a hard one to handle. I'm SUPER excited! Welcome the next project horse.

Chance, is our eight year old sorrel tobiano Paint Horse. He is an ex-racehorse and was starved and beaten before he was placed in a kill pen. He was later rescued by our family at age six and has been with us ever since.

Roulette, is our six year old bay Arabian. He was abused as a foal then bought by a man and sold to wonderful friend of mine who trained him. He was then sold to us at the age of three. Still at my ranch currently being trained and treated with the kindness he deserves.

This page is my ranch’s official page to exhibit our rescues for people interested and wanting to buy any of our available rescues.
But before getting any of our horses you’ll have to answer some questions so we evaluate you and see if you’re fit to own the horse and your past history with horses if you’ve had any, we don’t want our horses going back to the kind of people we rescued them from.
My mission is to rescue horses from kill pens, break them to ride, train them for any discipline, and sell them to a family or a loving person they can finally rest with.

racehorse. He came straight out of the killpen and is now living happily with our family. You can see he wasn’t doing that well when we rescued him, then there’s him at our ranch, I mean you can see the difference.
