Spellcraft Springers We are an English Springer Spaniel kennel established in 2020 focused on the health, temperament, and preservation of ESS breed type.

We are focused on breed preservation and betterment. Spellcraft is an ESSFTA member focused on healthy, happy, and structurally sound dogs with good drive and temperament. Our dogs regularly showcase their abilities in performance events such as barn hunt, dock diving, agility, among others and show in conformation. Our belief is the best companions are dogs that go the extra mile to show what they can contribute to the breed.

We're very lucky to be able to feature so much of him since we routinely get to see him and he will hopefully be a big part of our program in the future. He and Arcana are our picks out of the Salem and Poker "A litter" from 2023, and we're really excited for the next chapter with them.

I will have to do some side-by-sides of the entire litter soon. They've turned out to be so lovely and consistent. I believe I've got photos saved of all five of these puppies sprinting their little hearts out!

We are still waiting on the last of this girl's health testing before anything is completely locked in, but I have to share that I am so incredibly excited about the plans we are making for Arcana and who with. 🥰

Things are coming along for Miss Arcana and I.

More good news!

Bart had his first scent work trial over the weekend with owner, Sarah! He successfully qualified in all four elements, earning 1st in interior and 2nd place in buried. Big congratulations to these two. ❤️

He's been enjoying life with older brother, Ranger, and figuring out swimming and boat rides over the summer.

Danielle and Ted took Kyber and Blitz to Arizona to show this weekend! While I was unable to attend, I heard that Kyber showed well. He took Winners Dog both days and Owner-Handled Best of Breed today.

Thank you to the judges for considering Kyber.
Both years our dogs have attended have been wonderful, thank you to everyone who makes Flagstaff such a great show.

While out and about, Blitz seems to have hurt his paw. We're not exactly sure what happened, but he showed a small limp earlier today that impacted his performance, so we'll be taking him in for an evaluation straight away.

Arcana and I are still very early into our agility journey together, but I'm very pleased with her progress so far. She is more calculated than my other Springers, but her drive is slowly starting to make an appearance as we continue. It started to really show up toward the end of class this day.

I recently received an email from Good Dog.
Let's talk about it.

Being a breeder is an incredible investment, especially when you're doing it as a labor of love with the goal of doing everything right.

Hosting a website certainly has costs, and I've no objection to supporting, but it crosses a line when that service begins to use predatory marketing incentives and punishments against its users.

What this email demonstrates behind closed doors is how the service recommends breeders to the consumer. They've decided my program does not benefit their pocketbook, therefore, they've limited your accessibility to me. Good Dog has quietly said that quality or suitability are, in fact, no longer the way in which they are recommending breeders to you.

Their goal is exclusively to increase profit margins, by bullying breeders into accepting losses in the hundreds per puppy.

I may not be the breeder for you -- but you would never know it based on their current practices. It's very disappointing.

What they don't realize is that many contacts also aren't actually from them. There is no way to track that unless they have access to professional emails, websites, and social media accounts independent from their network. Many of the people that contact me reach out through other means, then send a secondary inquiry through their platform.

We've got more congratulations in order!

Here we have the wonderful Savannah and her handsome boy, Silas, out of Dunebug and Kimber. Every time I see him, I always stop in my tracks. His head looks so much like his sire's. ♥

This boy just earned his BCAT with his owner.
He's become quite the - not so - little adventure dog in his almost two years of life. It's been a treasure watching them go out and try to many different activities together.
